Chapter 18: Support Beam

Elsa's POV
I love being by Anna's side. I love going to sleep next to her, waking up next to her, eating next to her. Everything I do next to her feels like it's the most important thing I've ever done. Either way, I still have obligations to the forest and to Ahtohollan.
I called to the Nokk as I approached the water.
The ride back to the Enchanted Forest was short, but it gave me plenty of time to reflect and prepare for the greeting the Northuldra tribe would provide. I hadn't been around in weeks. I'm sure they were fine though.
As I approached the land, I heard a voice. "Elsa!!!" Honeymaren called as she ran to my side, "We've missed you!" Rider approached right behind her.
"How's Sven and Kristoff?" He asked.
"Pretty good!" I responded, "What's new out here?"
"Good question," Honeymaren looked at Rider and then to me, "last week, one of the earth giants almost smushed a reindeer, but we stopped it, thankfully."
"Well, other than that, anything new?"
"Maybe you should talk to Yelana." Rider said with a concerned look on his face. That can't be good.

     I found Yelana out by the river. "Fine of you to return." She said barely above a whisper, "the peace won't last long without you here, you know. You bridged us through your magic and love for your kingdom, but Elsa..... you belong here."
How? How can I belong so far away from Anna. "Yelana, you must understand. My sister is going through a lot of changes in her life, and it's hard to face those changes and run a kingdom all at once." I tried not to sound as hurt as I actually was at her words.
"So you abandoned us simply to support a woman going through a life change?!?"
"Yelana! That comment is simply out of line. First of all, that "woman" is my sister and I love and support her and the rest of my kingdom no matter the circumstance!"
"Pft. What about us? Honeymaren has been heartbroken since you left! What about the forest? The rest of the spirits are completely out of balance without you living here! We need your love and support too!!!"
"You have me here, Yelana. I can return any day of the week."
"Then let that day be today."
"Yelana, you don't get it."
"Oh, I do. I knew the universe was out of whack when it gifted the kingdom of Arendelle a queen with magic."
"How could you-"
"Enough. If you're going to go, just go."
My mind was swimming. Had I really disappointed the spirits and Northuldra tribe so much by being in Arendelle? Am I just a machine of support for everyone? I've never been so needed. Life was so much easier when I was locked away.
Tears swelled in the corners of my eyes as I rode the Nokk out to Ahtohallan. I was going to be a while. ESPECIALLY after that conversation.
