Personality: Finn is very reserved. He is quiet due to having selective mutism but he is a very nice and sweet guy. It takes a lot to get through to him and he will often think that someone isn't talking to him when they actually are. He can be a bit cheeky and actually has a pretty dark sense of humour but he tends to keep very much to himself. He hates any attention on himself and will do anything to avoid being in the spotlight. He hold himself to himself a lot and is actually very jumpy, almost like a frightened cat as he has been referred to as before. He isnt good with loud noises or crowded areas and has bad social anxiety.

Likes: Music, reading, people who understand him, apples, chocolate, animals, art, tattoos

Dislikes: Loud noises, loud and obnoxious people, pears, mint, scary movies (just anything horror related)

Talents: Can play the guitar, art, writing

Brief backstory: Finn was born into what he thought was a loving family but really wasn't. He grew up in an abusive household. His father would physically and mentally abuse his mother. He would yell and hit her most nights and growing up Finn felt like he couldn't do a thing to stop it. During the day his father wasn't exactly nice to him either and made him believe that all his opinions didn't matter and that he was an invalid human being.

He came from an old fashioned family and his parents never loved each other and actually married out of necessity. They only had him and his elder sister to carry on a blood line. But Finn's father was always disappointed in him. He was never this tough boy. He coarser away at most things and that drove his father crazy.

As he got older, Finn would be beaten for anything he did that didn't align with his father's plans of life or the day or just simply anything he didn't agree with. As time went on, as he was looked down on, beaten, or shamed for even speaking his opinion, Finn grew more and more afraid of the world around him and believed that if he was invisible then he wouldn't face the pain of it all.

At 16 he managed to escape the hell that was his home when his father managed to beat his mother to death and the police came knocking. He was doing exceptionally well in his English literature class thay his teacher believed he coukd get into a brilliant school with a scholarship. One of the main reasons he applied was to get away from his family but the situation of his mother's death made it so he actually had a place to go.

Finn and his sister aren't very close and have hardly spoken since the death of his mother. He is currently finishing a degree and living on his own with his dog Ghost.

Flaws: Can't speak so very hard to communicate with unless you know sign language, but even then he doesn't like to speak to people unless he needs to. He smokes a lot, and depending on who you ask, his love for tattoos is either good or bad.

Fears: Being forgotten because he can't speak up to let people know he's there, crowded spaces, heights

Pets: Huksy called Ghost who he loves to take on walks. He's a big fan of Game of Thrones.

Other: He's got selective mutism but uses sign language. He has the ability to speak but chooses not to as a result of trauma. He has been known to say a few words if he is with someone he trusts deeply but even then he struggles with it.
He used reading to escape his life and be 'a part' of a different world.
He goes by Finn instead of Merrick because his father would use Merrick when yelling at him.
