IT HAD LONG GOTTEN DARK as everyone sat in silence on the bus. They had been waiting for around thirty minutes already, and no one had the nerve to speak up. Lucas had headed up to the top of the bus, his binoculars in hand a couple of minutes ago, and the rest were still within the bus.

Lorelei was sitting with her legs crossed underneath her, glancing over at Steve every now and then as he played with the lighter. She still couldn't believe it - there was a chance that she would die in an old junkyard with Steve Harrington and three children.

  It was ridiculous.

Everything about this was ridiculous. It was as if someone had just dropped her into a stupid video game completely unprepared and simply asked her to deal with it. She missed how her life was before she knew there were alternate dimensions and slimy monsters with killer teeth.

She sighed for what must have been the fiftieth time in the past couple of minutes. Dustin shared a look with Steve as they heard her, both feeling worried that she would crack under pressure soon enough.

Although Steve had not revealed this to anyone - not even Lorelei herself, he had heard her tossing and turning all night when he had slept over. And he hadn't done anything, of course, there wasn't anything to be done. But he could tell the lack of sleep had almost completely knocked her down.

Dustin nudged Max with his elbow, and they both quickly climbed up the later which led to the top of the bus, leaving Steve and Lorelei by themselves.

Steve turned his head to her as they left, and he ran his hazel eyes over her side profile, trying to think of something that could make her less freaked. As well as Lorelei Keller hid her fear, he could tell by the fidgeting of her foot that she was anxious.

"How did you deal with it?" Lorelei asked out of the blue.

She shifted her body so she was looking over at him, eyes having to focus a bit harder to make out all the details on his face through the dullness of the night.

  "Deal with what?" Steve questioned.

"The whole fucking thing," Lorelei gestured around them "the monsters and the um- what is it called again?"
