"DOES HE ALWAYS ACT THIS STUPID?" Lorelei inquired as she leaned against the back room counter of SCOOPS AHOY.

"Pretty much," Robin replied. "But I think it's gotten worse for some reason."

They turned back to watch as Steve tried to flirt with a girl that had come to the shop for some ice cream. He was stuttering over his words like a proper idiot, and it was funny to watch him try to act all cool.

Lorelei had the day off at the pool - something about switching shifts with another worker that hadn't been around lately. She had decided to go over to the mall, after all, there was air conditioning and endless options of things to do. It sure beats wandering around Hawkins all day.

Since she had arrived, Steve had been on his shift, and he had been trying to score a date during the entirety of said shift. It was horrible to watch because every time he tried it seemed as though he was hit was a speech impediment spell that made him seem like an even bigger idiot.

The girl that he had been talking to rejected him and left with her friend, to which Steve called after her - a sight that made Lorelei cringe internally.

"And another one bites the dust," Robin stated as she brought her tally board out and marked under YOU SUCK. "You are o-for-six, Popeye."

"Yeah, I can count." Steve nodded his head impatiently.

"You know that means you suck?" she added, a smirk on her face.

"Yup. I can read too," Steve narrowed his eyes.

  "Since when?" Robin joked.

Lorelei stifled a laugh beside her, her lips quirking up. She watched as Steve approached them and leaned against the counter as well, his shoulders sulking as he did so.

"It's this stupid hat," he complained. "I am telling you, it's totally blowing my best feature."

"Poor Stevie," Lorelei teased, her finger poking the side of his arm.

Robin glanced over at the interaction with a smirk. "Yeah, company policy is a real drag."

"Maybe the hat isn't the real problem, Steve," Lorelei commented as she played with her hair.
