A sigh left your lips as you leaned back in the large plush chair. Raindrops decorated the window's clear glass, racing down to the bottom. The sky's grey hue seemed almost peaceful to you, despite its murkiness. A soft knock sounded at your door before it opened, a familiar figure stepping into your line of vision. Wrapping your fingers around the warm plaster mug you smiled, adjusting your position on the chair to stare up at him.
"What're you doing?" he asked, looking out the window just as you were.
You hummed in thought and shrugged. "Just thinking," you said. He stared down at you for a moment, before sitting on the carpeted floor near your legs. Although the chair was large enough to fit both of you he chose to sit crouching, hands on your lap.
Your love for him blossomed and flourished as lavishly as a flower in the spring, beginning with awkward eye contact across the room before he finally made his way over to you and created some small talk, his cheeks rosy and hands shaky with nerves.
You were quiet for a moment, staring out the window. The soft pitter-patter of the rain on the castle echoed throughout the room, overlapping the silence with its rhythmic beats.
Merely his presence was enough to have you smiling and out of your pit of despair. You didn't know anyone else who could make you feel so much with a single glance.
You prepared yourself for his cherub voice, he only smiled, teeth and all as a small chuckle erupted from his lips.
He grabbed your legs and swung them over his lap so you sat facing his side. You couldn't help but feel your heart rate increase at his playful grin and bright dark blue eyes.
Moments like this had become a rare jewel that is if you were lucky enough to obtain them. Especially him, who worked tirelessly around the clock, never a moment to himself and hardly enough time to sleep.
They didn't know him for the person he was. They forget he's a human, with emotions and thoughts and fragile skin.
"Thinking about what?" he murmured, focusing on your features with an intensity so strong it forced you to look away.
The pressure he was constantly under, every little negative action or comment piled upon his shoulders until they eventually came crashing down, leaving him buried beneath the debris.
His head lay on your chest as he allowed himself to be enveloped by your tender embrace, his arms wrapped securely about your waist as if to stabilize himself. The gleeful sound of your laughter intertwined with his as you nearly dropped the cup you had raised to your lips telling him that he was way too heavy to be sitting on your lap.
The crinkles in his eyes from years of smiling and laughter shone as a rare sight while he nearly lost his breath. Your little snort that he found utterly adorable only added to the series of laughter.
"Have some cocoa milk."
"I want the one you are drinking."
A tender smile taking place on his lips, he brushed off his hands on his shirt before sitting down beside you, taking your cup of the chocolaty goodness instead of the one you made for him and lacing his fingers with yours.
Your only wish was for him to truly know how much he meant to you.
He was the sunlight that filtered through the window, causing all of the particles of dust to dance as if they were fireflies. You felt as if nothing could go wrong when you were by his side.
He turned slightly so his eyes met yours, wide and expectant as he spoke. "Don't worry about anything. I will always be there for you." Swiftly pressing his lips to your forehead, he tilted his head to the side as you rest against his shoulder, a content sigh escaping your throat.
"We are gonna be alright."
