Hardly anything seemed right nowadays, nothing came out as it was supposed to. It felt as if the weight of the world was on his shoulders and despite using all his strength he couldn't lift it off, not even an inch.
Losing the people he loves and cares for was taking a huge toll on him. The exhaustion was beginning to wear away his energy bit by bit, leaving him drained and weary beyond comprehension, and he'd collapse onto the mattress day after day without a word of his emotional war.
Of course, he'd never utter a word of his issues to you, in fear they'd worry about you when you already had so much to look over. You hid his tears so no one would realize the amount of pain he really was in. Yet you had begun to notice over the course of the past few days.
You would catch him tossing and turning in the middle of the night, yet he'd simply drape his arm about your waist and drag you closer to his chest as a silent reassurance of his tender love and care. And as he buried his face into the back of your hair, he'd whisper a gentle, "I've got you."
"You haven't been feeling too good these days have you?"
"It's nothing. I am fine."
Another lie. He wanted you to help him, and to hold him close and whisper soft encouragements in his ear, but he didn't want to cause you any more concerns than you already had.
Seeing him in such a state broke your heart, yet he remained upright with an affectionate smile and tipped your chin up with his thumb, pressing a dainty kiss to your lips, one as gentle as a butterfly's wings yet as passionate as the way he fought.
"What's wrong?" you asked again, brows knitted together with concern.
"I don't know," he said, gritting his teeth together. "And don't ask me to explain it because I don't know everything doesn't feel right. I feel so-so horrible all the time and I can't control it. I don't know what to do and, I don't know what to think, I don't-"
You silenced him once again by pressing your lips to the tip of your nose. "You don't have to explain it, okay?" You whispered.
"You don't have to prove anything to me. I've been there, and you're not alone in this, you're not." He scooted closer to your form, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you close.
"We've got you, baby."
