It was such a painful memory. Mom doesn't have any idea about my friends thus she didn't knew about Sera and the girls.
It's been a year, as what Steven had said. Isang taong walang communication, updates, and such.
I also celebrated my 18th birthday in here, with my Dad's wife and my step siblings.
One is a thirteen year old girl and the other is a seven year old boy.
When we arrived here in States, Aunt Vina welcomed us warmly. She let us stay here in their house up until now. They are a wealthy family and Steven and I made sure to help them with the household chores since Aunt Vina opposed our idea of looking for a job to support our financial needs.
May ibinigay na sulat sa akin si Aunt Vina during the day of Daddy's burial. Sadly, I didn't give him a chance to reconcile with us. I also found out that Steven held grudge toward Dad which led him to being cold to our father.
We were hunted by our what ifs and rude acts. Although we still haven't forgiven ourselves, we are currently in the process.
I budged into Steven's room without permission just like what he did earlier.
After patting his head, I sat on top of his study table.
"What? You want me to get lost so why are you here in front of me? Kung gusto mo makipag-bati– which is too impossible– you can now leave." Steven uttered with a straight face as he motion his hand outside.
"Don't be bad, Steven. You might pee on your pants." I teased. Annoyance draw on his face which made me smirk.
He was about to yell at me when I spoke. "Kidding aside," sumeryoso ako. "Let's go home already."
Comfortable silence ensued us.
"Why so sudden, sis?
"The time I spent in here has made me realize things, Steven. I was able to think, breath, and reflect. Daddy won't like it if I stay like this longer.
She was, of course, as expected, sad. We treated each other like a true family, a mother-children bond. Even the two kids were sad and teary-eyed.
"Thank you, Aunt Vina." I embraced her tightly, with a lot of affection. "I will miss you."
"I will miss you, too." nang humiwalay kami sa yakap ay may tubig na sa gilid ng kaniyang mga mata.
