Falling Star

A haunting smile entered my vision before I could register what was happening, I was falling. The cliff was too far away but still I tried to grab it, fingertips brushing hopelessly against the bushes.

Splash. Water filled my lungs and made me shudder. The icy liquid devoured me.

I was sinking to the bottom of the lake. Hell no. I wasn't going down, not like this. My arms were moving but I couldn't feel them. A thrill was coursing through me, bringing me back to life. Or so I thought. My body was numb, my veins were electrified with something rotten.

Squelch. Mud clung to my toes. It was at that point I realised I'd lost my shoe, I was in a forest and I was dead. Yeah one shoe was worth more than my life.

A thumping thrum broke me out of my pity party. In a haze, I walked towards it.

'Aludra Star.' The white-haired man snickered and scuttled closer.

'It's Ludra.' Slosh. I shuffled from my barefoot onto my wet sneaker. It was a zeta jock. The one that walked like a demented crab and spat like a llama.

'Starlight Aludra, your parents must of really hated you. Yet they knew you'd always be a virgin so they named you accordingly.' He shuffled awkwardly as he laughed. It was like watching a hyena and a crab fight.

A sprinkling of salvia hit my clothes. Oh well it wasn't like I could get any wetter.

'What happened to you?' He quirked an eyebrow.

'Mind your business, um...'

'Don't know my name, do you?'

'Is hyena crab llama not it?'

The man inched closer. 'Watch your step human. This is a place you don't belong.' His hair was twitching. It almost look like it was lengthening then receding.

'Human?' I frowned. 'Aren't we all?'

The man chuckled as he faded into the night.

Hmm the ground's getting pretty close to my face ah—

Yip I fainted.

Or more poetically on a moonlight night, I kissed the grass. What a sight. I landed on my ouch!

After a brief nap...

A crimson moon glistened through the massive skylight. It burned my eyes. I could smell the testosterone floating in the air. As one the werewolves turned and sniffed the air. Wait a minute, what now? I rubbed my eyes and looked again. Yip they were werewolves. The zeta pack. Right, well the clue was in the name. With every step I took, I felt my energy ebbing away. It was like I was melting underneath the heat of the moon while the werewolves were supercharged by it.

'What the hell,' the alpha's raspy snarl was oddly alluring, 'are you doing here?'

'Keep your mutts on a leash Furball.' I almost fell over when I felt two sharp things digging into my lip. After a few embarrassing tugs, I realised they were attached to me. Everyone was on edge but I couldn't retract them. Hell I didn't even know teeth could do that.
