I'll win you a teddy bear

A few minutes into wandering around the fair, Steve and Tony drifted away somewhere else, probably making out in some corner, leaving Sam and Bucky by themselves. Wanda left right after arriving and said the redhead she's been talking to has come and they would go on a separate date. It's just Bucky and Sam now, walking beside each other, their hands brushing occasionally. 

Trying to cut through the awkward tension between them, Sam clears his throat, a little too weirdly for his liking. "Do you wanna go for a ride? That Ferris wheel looks dope."

Bucky has always been petrified of Ferris wheels and roller coasters and all sorts of things that would swing him around in the air. He would attach himself to the person sitting next to him like a koala and hide his face in their neck. That person has always been Steve, not even Rumlow because apparently, 'he didn't have time to babysit Bucky's ridiculous fear', he would say. 

"Why do you even wanna go on a ride if you are so scared, huh?" he would ask. 

"Because I want to go with you, I want to be included!" Bucky would scream, but only in his mind. in reality, he'd stay quiet and look down, closing any point of argument on that topic anymore.

"Buck, do you want me to get tickets for you?" Sam's questioning voice brings him back to the present. He shakes his head and quietly admits, "I'm scared of those rides."

"Oh. But you know, if you still wanna go, I can hold you. Maybe that way you won't feel as scared. Only if you really wanna go, of course." Oh, Sam, lovely, sweet Sam. 

"Umm...okay..."

And Sam holds him close to his body throughout the whole ride, shares his body heat, giggles and screams together when the Ferris wheel drops down from the highest point.

Bucky munches on the cotton candy Sam bought for him, letting the sweet treat melt on his tongue. After finishing his last candy he decides to go and buy something for Sam, when the said man calls him over to some shop filled with fluffy plushies.

"Hey, Bucky, choose one teddy bear, I'm gonna play this game and win it for ya. And don't come up with something like 'you don't have to', cause I really want to!" Sam flashes his brightest grin and best puppy eyes at Bucky that makes his heart melt into a puddle of marshmallows.

Bucky cannot help but chuckle softly, "alright, alright. Umm... I like that light blue one!"

"Okay, Buck. In a few moments, it will be your squishy."

And Sam wins the little game, hands over the plushie to Bucky who buries his blushing face in the teddy's soft fur, muttering a heartfelt thank you. Sam only smiles bigger, blessing Bucky's heart even more.

Finally when they are returning to their places, resting his head on Sam's shoulder, Bucky smiles coyly to himself, and so does Sam.

Best unannounced first date ever.
