The sharp ray of light piercing through my closed eyelids had me groaning and squeezing my eyes to try and ease the irritating sensation. I angrily opened my one eye to find that the curtains were not properly closed. There was a small opening between the two curtains that let in some of the morning light which I found was less welcome this morning as compared to the other mornings because of the exhaustion I was feeling after spending the whole night tossing and turning in bed even as I felt terribly tired without any ounce of sleepiness.
My mind wouldn't let my body rest throughout the whole night as questions on whether selling the housing was the right option. I mean, I wasn't even planning to keep the proceeds, I considered donating them, but even so, I couldn't find rest until 5am this morning.
My body felt stiff and sore with exhaustion while my eyes felt swollen and scratchy with sleep. I quietly moaned and hissed in pain from the very sore feeling of a burning sensation in my calf muscle as it stretched while my eyes shot to the digital anologue on the nightstand that read '08:00'.
You have got to be kidding me.
The pain slowly eased until only an uncomfortable feeling was left in my leg which I appreciated over the pain.
But, was I ready to wake up yet? Oh no. I was going back to sleep.
I stubbornly drew my blanket over my head and closed my eyes and as luck had it, I easily and quickly fell back into the much needed sensation of sleep.
~"~"~"~"~"
The loud sound of my ring tone had me letting out a deep breath and grunting in displeasure as I threw my hand out from under the covers and over to the nightstand to grab the cold, vibrating and loudly ringing device. I brought it to my line of view and took a quick peek at the caller ID before swiping at the screen and placing the cold screen against my ear.
"Hello." I raspily greeted.
"Don't tell me you're still asleep!" A very loud and energetic Solana chirped from the receiver, making me hiss from the unexpected noise as I moved my phone from my ear and closed my eyes before opening them and putting it on loud speaker.
"I might be." I sighed while closing my eyes and putting the phone on my pillow.
"It's 12pm, Selly," She groaned disapprovingly," It's time to get your butt out of bed and start your day which should have started decades ago. Up up, Sis."
As nice as her energy was and as much as I loved my sister, I didn't appreciate her energy in the morning. Especially today when I barely slept the night before...rephrase, when I didn't sleep the night before.
"I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but something tells me you didn't just call to lecture me," I sighed," What's the actual reason?"
"You're so mean," She whined, the appearance of a pout very clear in her tone. "But you're right, I called to invite you over for dinner. Adam and I feel bad for leaving you so suddenly last night, so to make it up to you and to celebrate your new home, we want to take you out tonight. Our treat."
The part about them feeling bad was to be expected and had me internally chuckling and shaking my head in amusement and adoration for the power couple, but the part about the house was the opposite. It had my heart skipping a beat and my stomach churning in guilt and silent panic of how I would break the news that I was selling the house.
I haven't told our parents about the house yet and I hope nor has Solana because if she has, I'd have four people to tell and probably explain myself to.
"You really don't have to do that." I sighed. It wouldn't be right to allow them to celebrate something that I would be selling very soon.
"But we want to," Adam's deep voice suddenly filled the receiver," Hey there, sleepy head."
