I pushed the door open and fixed the strap of my duffle bag on my shoulder before walking in and turning on the lights in the hallway and the ones in the living room before I made my way to the kitchen.
"Elias!" I called out as I turned around and faced the entrance in hopes that that would be where he would walk in from.
It's been a few days since that day I came in here crying and Elias and I have been getting along well, that is until I have to go home and he gives me that sad, but understanding smile. So, to make up for all those days, I decided that I would come here today and surprise him by sleeping over.
The appearance of small particles as they gathered in front of me had me smiling as I waited for the body to fully form which never failed to amaze me.
Elias's warm features were soon smiling at me as he gave me a slight bow and smiled at me.
"Good evening, Young Miss. I was not expecting your arrival this evening," He said with understandable confusion and concern because I normally leave around this time, not come in. "Is everything, alright?"
"Yes, I'm great actually," I smiled reassuringly, "I just thought that having a sleep over here would be nice, is all. Plus, we can get to know each other more this way right? I even brought over some movies and snacks." I chirped to which he just nodded with clear confusion.
"Alright?" He said.
"Look, I just thought that a sleepover would be nice and would give us enough time to get to know each other more considering how I was only able to come here for three days including Monday." I slowly and softly explained.
His face morphed into one of understanding as he slowly nodded without a small smile that failed to hide the hidden happiness that sparkled as bright as the stars outside from his eyes.
"Well, I am certainly happy to hear that. As a matter of fact, I cannot wait for the rest of the evening festivities to commence." He grinned like a young, excited boy on Christmas as he looks at his pile of presents. It was heart warming and assured me that I had made the right decision to come here.
The warmth of the house in its own was very assuring as I let out a quiet sigh and smiled at nothing in particular as a warm feeling blossomed even more in my chest. It was so exhilarating that I had to bite the inside of my cheek and grab hold of my bag even more as to not squeal loudly like a child while jumping around as if I were a spring.
"I'm excited too," I admitted," But before everything starts, let me go change into my pajamas and drop the bag off upstairs."
"Alright," He smiled," Then I'll just wait for you in the living room."
I nodded and smiled before he left, leaving me to walk up the long flight of stairs alone and to my room that remained untouched and the same. Everything was the exact same way I had left it and the sweet fresh scent that I had grown to associate with the room remained the same. The whole house had a scent in fact, it was a natural hue with a bit of forestry and flowers. It was like taking a breath of clean and fresh air when I stepped foot into the house.
It almost felt like the house was in its own reality, it's own world that was quite different from the natural world, but in a good way. The house felt like a vacation home or even a magical home that helped you forget about reality and its problems while you were surrounded by its walls. It was truly a special home which has me thinking that the magical energy could have been the reason for its long generation with the Hill family because I know that if this was my family home, I would never give it away, I would want it to stay in my family forever so my whole family can experience the sweet experience of being in a home like this. Not a house, but a home. A home that even I myself could see myself staying in and raising a family.
I mean, the house was grand and held everything and more that a family would need. During the few days I've been coming here, Elias has given more a full experience and tour of the house again, including the rooms that Samuel had not been able to show me which included the library, home cinema and family room that were located on the third floor. Outside in the large backyard was a playground, a guesthouse, pool, jacuzzi and warm bath pool. It was genuinely a perfect home.
I walked into the dark room and found the switch to the lights that loitered the ceiling like stars, just more artificial and painful to the eyes. I closed the room behind me and made my way over to the neatly made bed.
I dropped my duffle bag and the plastic full of snacks on the neat surface and pulled the zip open so I could pull out my long set of pajamas that were already placed at the top.
I stripped out of my jeans and shirt that I had worn to work and pulled on the long sleeve Tweety pajama top and matching floor length, baggy pants that barely hung off my small waist, but were held up by my medium sized hips that went very well with my short frame.
I felt very confident with the baggy outfit and how loose it felt on my body as it slowly, but barely caressed my naked skin underneath. It was very refreshing as I grabbed my summer gown and pulled it on for who knows what reason and my yellow emoji slippers.
I untied my hair and let it fall carelessly and freely down my shoulders without a care in the world which I think was needed after having it tied in a tight and neat bun the whole day. My sculp practically ached from the torture that the sensation of it loosening and gliding down my shoulders felt very relaxed and soothing to my tortured sculp.
I eagerly ran my hand through my hair and massaged my sore sculp a bit to ease the pain a bit before letting my hair go and going to the bathroom to wash my hands. Once that was over and done with, I made my way back to the bedroom to grab the snacks and my phone before heading downstairs and to the kitchen to drop off the plastic in the kitchen where I was surprisingly greeted by a very patient Elias as he welcomed me into the kitchen with a warm smile.
"I see you have settled in, I'm glad." He smiled from where he sat with his leg thrown over the other as he leaned against the island with a smile.
"Yes I have, comfortability above all else, right?" I giggled as I made my way over to the island," I thought you were going to be in the living room."
"I was," He shrugged," But then, it did not quite seem right to sit alone in the darkness. I was sure it would frighten you to find me in there when you got there rather that in here where the lights are already on."
"You've got a point," I praised as I looked at him with a bit of interest. "Is it just me or do you seem to almost become translucent in the light. I mean, you seem less bold and visible than when it's dark with a bit of light from the windows."
"Well, that's probably because the artificial, bright lights render me semi transparent as opposed to when I am covered in natural light which is normally not as bright and sharp." He explained.
"Good point yet again," I nodded. Okay, I hope you don't mind that I ordered myself some dinner which should be delivered sometime around now. I only bought one burger, because I wasn't sur-" I stopped as I was cut off by the soft and reassuring voice that only belonged to Elias.
"Do not fret, Little One. I am truly grateful for your consideration, however, unfortunately I cannot eat direct food. You could say I take the essence of meaningful food, but not the physical form. Besides, I do not believe that I find myself ever feeling hungry neither thirsty so all is well." He reassured, just as my phone buzzed from a message from the driver.
"Oh," I said in realisation before I apologetically asked," I'm sorry, but do you mind if I go fetch my food outside, quick? The driver is here." I explained.
He wordlessly gestured towards the door," Go ahead." He smiled.
"Thank you!" I grinned, before I all but sprinted outside to fetch my box of Steers from the food delivery guy, which didn't take long because not even 10 minutes later, I was walking back inside with my paperbag of Steers food and my cold bottle of Coke. "I'm back!" I announced as I walked back into the kitchen to find Elias standing.
"Great! So, shall we begin with tonight's festivities?"He asked.
I nodded.
"Let's." I happily chirped.
