Brief A/N at the beginning because the one at the end is super fukin long- umm I am apologizing in advance for Gavin's odd behavior. I wrote this chapter at like 1 in the morning after finishing homework so...he's all over the place... anyway, continue-

A few days later, Nines slowly made his way into the precinct. He reaches for the handle and pauses. Before he can turn around and walk back to his car, he pulls the door open. It felt heavier than before in his grip. It nearly slipped out of his hand as he pulled.

Nines continued through the corridor, noting the people who stopped and watched him. He heard the whispers and felt his fingers and toes tingle as each loud step echoed in his ears. He stopped at his desk and caught sight of someone familiar. His blood ran cold.

"Where the hell have you been?" a familiar face spoke. It looked at him with a snarky expression that hadn't changed a bit. The image of blue blood all over the dark tiles flashed behind Nines' eyes, making him shake his head slightly.

Nines walked past him, keeping his mind off the fact that the android he shot was standing right next to him. He didn't want to believe it, acknowledging the freshly made cup of coffee on his desk. He raised a brow and lifted it to take a sip. His muscles stiffened when it was exactly to his liking. He turned to the robot with a frown.

"Who do you think you are?" He asked, lifting the cup to take another sip. "You are not the same android that I've been working with," he added, placing the cup back on the desk.

He looked at him and shook his head slightly. "Of course I am, you may have shot me. But your aim is kinda shit," he explained to him with a smirk. When he caught sight of Nines' expression, he chuckled. "You shot me in the arm, asshole," he added, turning from him to look over any files that had piled up from the days that Nines didn't show up to work.

He grabbed the one they were still working on and turned back to him. "And now, since we all have clear heads, we can confirm that Jhon didn't actually do it," Gavin said, opening the file. "Emma-Lynn did an examination on him and it came up with nothing about the theories she had before," he explained, handing it over to Nines.

Nines was still in shock at what he had just learned not two minutes ago. He took the file from him and looked at it. His eyes moved back to him with a frown. "Wait, stop. You mean to tell me that you aren't some successor from the one I've been working with?" He asked, realizing that his question sounded crazy to begin with.

"Uh, yes, I just told you your aim is shit and I had to replace my arm. Keep up with the program," Gavin repeated, snapping his fingers before pointing at the new paperwork in the file. "Can we get back to the case now?" He asked, folding his arms and raising a brow at him.

Nines shook his head to clear it up before nodding. "...yeah...sure, you were saying...?" He said, waving his hand to gesture that Gavin could continue the discussion that got thrown off the rails.

"Thank you," Gavin mumbled before telling him everything he had collected while Nines was on leave. Everything from the test results from Emma-Lynn to more information from the crime scene. There wasn't anything that Gavin missed when he brought Nines up to speed on the case.

"And as far as I know, we could be looking at an Android retaliation attack," he finished, looking up at Nines and catching the hopeful glint in his eyes. He gave him a small smile and patted him on the shoulder. "Come on, we need to get a move on before the trail goes cold!" He said, walking out of the precinct with a little jog in his step.

Nines stood in place next to his desk, eyes still focused on the file in front of him. He flicked through every sheet of paper, thinking it was too good to be true that Gavin managed to get everything all on his own. Sure enough, it was all there. Every detail Gavin had relayed to him was in the file in his hands.

He heard a chuckle behind him, making him turn around and see Connor with a smug look on his face. "I wanted to tell you, but you wouldn't pick up the phone," Connor said, walking over to him. "You shot him and had your panic attack...while that was happening, Hank went to take care of it and realized that you had missed anything vital...all he really needed was a new arm and now he's good as new," he explained, resting an arm on his shoulders.

Nines looked at him and sighed. "Thank you, I was having a hard time..." he said, turning his attention to the window. He watched as Gavin was leaning against the car and waiting for him while bouncing on his toes slightly. "Though, he is acting more energetic than before..."

"Oh, I don't know much about that, but good luck on the case!" Connor said, turning to leave him so he could get his work done. He also left so Nines couldn't try to get any more information out of him.

Nines smiled slightly and rolled his eyes. "Alright, whatever..." he mumbled under his breath as he walked out to the car and watched as Gavin moved to reach for the handle on the door to pull on it.

"Let's go! We don't have all day," Gavin huffed as Nines slowly took out his car keys to unlock the door.

"Well, I wasn't expecting to be running around town all day," Nines said, casting a look at him. "I thought I would have to reteach everything to whoever would replace you."

"No one can replace me!"

"You don't have to shout..."

Gavin chuckled. "I know, I just do it to annoy you," he said with a smile. "I also missed having you around. Where'd you go?" He asked, looking at him once they got settled in the car.

"I took some time off. I needed to clear my head after I shot you, which you have miraculously recovered from," Nines explained to him, glaring over at him with a frown.

"What can I say? I am a miracle worker," Gavin joked, nudging him lightly as Nines started the engine and took off, out of the parking lot.

A/N: Hi, all. As you know...it's been almost over two years since I've last updated. I just want to say...I've been busy trying to get through the first year of college without stress. I'm sorry that you want more when I simply cannot provide right away. I leave them on cliffhangers to leave you wanting more. Half the time, I tend to forget about my projects and cannot find the motivation for when I do remember. Writer's block do be a bitch when you aren't as interested in something anymore. Tbh I will forget about what I'm writing about for months on end or maybe even a year, but I eventually come back to it. I just have to reread the whole thing to get an idea of where I'm at (trust me, I had to do that when I couldn't remember half of the plot to this bitch). So, I am giving an apology for not posting. I just like to keep all of you on your toes lol.  Also, no, this book is not discontinued. I'm just very distracted and forgetful all the damn time. Also college is kicking my ass. And there is no song in this chapter because I couldn't find a good one that fit-
But-
We can only go up from here.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
