what's mine
Even with the loss to Gryffindor, once Ophelia steps off the quidditch field, it was all water under the bridge. And even if it was conflicting with her allegiance to her house, she found herself at the Gryffindor celebratory party for their win in their common room. Ginny had been the one to invite her when they shook hands at the end of the match, and Ophelia never liked to pass up on an opportunity to party a bit. When she walked in, a few Gryffindors playfully booed her. She jokingly gestured her middle finger upward with a laugh, before Ginny approached her in a slightly drunken hug. "I'm glad you came!" She exclaimed, wanting Ophelia to feel welcomed.
"Thanks for the invite." Ophelia smiled. "How's Fred doing?"
"Been busy running the shop. I wrote with him last week. He tells me to tell you hello." She winked, somewhat actually wanting the two of them to get back together, even if she knew it would be a hopeless thought. Fred and Ophelia meshed well with one another. She used to observe their playful banter during the Dumbledore's Army meetings and when they finally got together and made things official, it was the happiest she had ever seen her brother.
"Tell him hello back." Ophelia smirked, taking the drink that Seamus had randomly handed her, and drinking it without a second thought. She knew it'd be best to not get black out like last time, being that Cormac was somewhere creeping around here and she had no desire to forget the night, or wind up with him again. She shuddered at the memory. Disgust overcame her before Ginny leaned into her side.
"Sorry 'bout the loss, love." Ginny smirked. "You played well, though!"
"Yeah, yeah." She waved her off with a small smile before rolling her head back and noticing Hermione standing by herself. Hermione and Ophelia had never been close, and maybe it was the liquor, but she felt the need to approach. "Hey," she said to her. Hermione gave a polite smile in return.
"You played well!" She exclaimed.
"Could have played a lot better," Ophelia responded back, before feeling a cold hand press against her lower back. Turning to her right, she saw Cormac peering down at her with a drunken smile. Ophelia had drank a lot. Maybe too much, and right now, Cormac wasn't as infuriating as he normally was. Hermione saw the exchange between the two and took her leave quietly. Cormac hadn't said anything, simply lifted a shot and she slowly opened her mouth, allowing him to pour it down her throat. He leaned forward, right beside her ear.
"You want to get out of here?" He asked, and she eyed him. But even with her drunken state, she knew still felt Draco lingering in the back of her skull. She pushed past it, grabbing Cormac's hand and guiding him away from the party and out of the Gryffindor common room, to the main hall. The two of them stumbled around, trying to be as quiet as possible, but she had the giggles, and Cormac had a fascination with playing with her hair and muttering random nonsense in her ear. By the time they had reached the Slytherin common room, she fully expected everyone to be asleep. They crept in as she shushed him for being too loud, and he watched as she suddenly tripped against the leather sofa near the fireplace, now bursting into laughter.
"Ophelia?" A voice asked, startling her as she peered up through the curtains of her long hair covering her face.
"She's drunk, Draco." Pansy's voice rang out beside him, with a sigh.
"McLaggen," Draco sneered, balling his fights beside him.
"Malfoy!" Cormac greeted, drunk and unaware that Draco now set a target onto him. "Help me get this one upstairs, would ya? She's a bit of a mess-" he was going to continue when suddenly the sound of flesh hitting flesh caused Ophelia to snap to her feet and hurry to the both of them. "Bloody hell, Malfoy, fuck you do that for?" Cormac groaned, grabbing his nose in agony.
"You think I'm going to assist you in bringing her to her bed so you can do what you want with her?" Draco's rage was bubbling up. "Are you daft?" He spat. Ophelia stared at the two, trying to keep her balance.
"I know you two have a past, mate, I just figured she's free rein now seeing that it's been over?" Cormac questioned quickly, dabbing at the blood dripping from his nose with his sleeve.
"Free rein?" Draco grew louder. "She's not a fucking toy, you prick!"
"Guys–" Ophelia tried to speak up, as her eyes closed and she swayed in her place gently. Draco now reached forward, grabbing Cormac by his collar and walking him back against the wall.
"You don't touch her. You don't speak to her. Hell, you don't even look at her, you hear me?" He said with a wicked smirk formed across his lips.
"Draco–" Ophelia said again, this time, causing Pansy to look to her from the bottom step.
"She's mine. She belongs to me. She always has, and she always will. And you know what happens to people who touch what's mine?" He asked. Cormac sobered up, peering across to him with a look that said he was trying to not seem intimidated or bothered, but he knew he was the weaker of the two. Before Draco could finish, or Cormac could respond, a quiet noise escaped Ophelia and suddenly she was bent over the sofa, puking. Pansy instantly went into support mode, rushing to her side and holding her hair back. Draco now looked from them, and back to Cormac, letting go of his grasp and shoving him toward the exit. "Get," he demanded. Cormac obliged with not a single word spoken. Draco straightened his jumper before approaching the girls just as Ophelia had finished, and he picked her up in both arms, heading toward the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Pansy asked.
"She's sleeping in my room." He didn't even sound as though it were a suggestion. He demanded it. Draco was lucky his parents were who they were. Even with Lucius in Azkaban, they held a great power. So Draco all these years always had his own private room. Small, but it beat having a roommate.
When he got to his room, he kicked the door closed and made his way to his bed, laying her down on it. She had once spent many nights here. Even before they were a couple, she'd always manage to fall asleep in his bed when they were just friends. It gave Draco a slight bit of peace from all his burdens being able to have that again. Even if it were just this once for this reason. He pulled the comforter over her and grabbed the waste bin from under his desk, placing it on the floor beside her. He then took his shoes off and made his way to the chair in the corner of his room, making himself as comfortable as he could under the circumstance.
"Draco–" her voice softly slurred out.
"Yes?" He immediately got back onto his feet and to her side.
"Just get in bed with me." She muttered, eyes still closed and words slurring together like she were half dead.
"Are you sure?" He asked, hesitantly. She nodded. He didn't waste anymore time as he walked to the other side and climbed into it beside her. She now rolled over to face him, and nuzzled up against his chest quietly with no more words spoken. He knew she was drunk and he knew she wouldn't remember any of this. But he was so undoubtedly happy to finally feel this once again. Even if just for a drunken night.
