Like a pair of jewel thieves, we held our laughter in -
as we snuck onto the rooftop of a towering old building
We watched the mellow sunset -
and all of the light in the world progressively retire
The wind had dropped, leaves laid still at our feet
Soon, we found ourselves under the enveloping night sky
An ocean of black and stars that flickered like a flame
Our own piece of heaven though it was a clandestine blade
