The pumpkin princess is home

In the town hall, Bella looked at the pen in her hand, her eyes filled with happy tears and her heart was racing in her chest. So fast she thought it would burst. In front of her were adoption papers, and all she had to do was sign Her name, since Jack and Sally had already signed theirs

Jack and Sally, who each had a hand on her shoulders, looked at each other with a smile before looking down at Bella. Without hesitation, Bella leaned down and finally wrote her name in ink on the adoption papers.

The mayor, who had helped them through the adoption process, stamped the papers, the Happy side of his head full of joy and excitement. "Congratulations, Jack and sally! And to you, miss Bella skellington." He said with a wink.

Hearing those words come out of the mayors mouth, especially with hearing her new last name, Bella couldn't believe it. Jack and Sally were now her adopted parents!

Bella burst into happy tears, immediately wrapping her arms around jacks waist,  burying her face in his chest. Jack wrapped a bony arm around Bella, his hand gently squeezing her shoulder, while his other one came around his wife's shoulders. He kissed Sally's cheek, then Bella's hair. They held each other close, just wanting to savor the moment of the fact that they now had a daughter.

That night, everyone in Halloween town was celebrating the new addition to the skellington family. The citizens never expected this to happen, but were so delighted when they found out the news.

The trio of musicians were playing their tunes, while everybody laughed and had fun, dancing the night away. The bright moon shown over the town, the dark, midnight blue skies filled with twinkling stars. The party lasted for quite a while, until it got really late and everybody decided to go to bed. The only people left in the town square were  Bella,  Jack and Sally

Jack was dancing with Sally when he noticed Bella slip through the gate, which led to the cemetery. He pondered for a moment, wondering why she would go to the cemetery, before looking at Sally.

"I wonder why she's going to the cemetery" he asked softly as Sally took his hand.

"Well, let's go see what she's up to, love." Sally said as she gently tugged on his hand, which led Jack to follow her. They slid through the gate, Bella very far ahead of them. Once they got to the cemetery, Jack and Sally noticed Bella sitting on top of spiral hill, on her knees. They slowly walked towards her, their unbeating hearts melting when they heard her start to sing a very familiar tune, with a very beautiful voice.

"My dearest friend, if you don't mind
I'd like to join you by your side
Where we can gaze into the stars"

"And sit together" Jack had chimed in, beginning to sing with her as they began to walk up the hill. Bella looked over her shoulder, a small smile forming on her face

"Now and forever" Sally started to sing as well and by then, all three of them were singing as Jack and Sally got closer to their new daughter.

"For it is plain, as anyone can see" once Jack and Sally got close enough, they knelt down next to her on either side of her , both of them wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"We're simply meant to be" they finished the song with bright smiles on their faces as Jack moved a loose strand of Bellas hair out of her face.

"How did you know about that song, love?" Sally asked as she placed a hand over Bella's. Bella smiled as she looked at their hands before looking at Sally.

"I heard you and Jack sing that song this morning..." she said with a small blush and a giggle as she rested her head against Sally's shoulder.

Jack smiled as he ran his bony fingers through her hair, moving some out of her face. "This is where Sally and I sang that song together... and where we had our first kiss. Now, that you're our daughter... you can call us mom and dad... if you want to, that is." Jack said sweetly, which made Bella smile even more.

"Of course I want to, I just have to get used to it. All my life, I wanted a mom and dad who would love me for who I am, to protect me and be there for me. And now I have you two as my parents. Even though I'm only human, you feel like and are my parents. You've been that way since day one and..." her eyes welled up again, a few tears falling down her cheeks. Happy tears.

"I love you both so much, and I want to be the best daughter ever..." her voice cracked with every word she spoke, her bottom lip quivering.

Jack gently picked her up and sat her on his lap, bringing her head to his chest and cradling it. He continued to run his fingers through his hair as he gently rocked her. " Ssh, ssh, my sweet pumpkin, it's okay." He cooed as Sally scooted closer and rubbed her back for comfort.

"Even though it's only been almost a day, you already are the best daughter. And being human doesn't change that, nor will it ever stop us from loving you as our daughter. We will love you and protect you, no matter what. You're our pumpkin princess."

Bella looked up at Jack and smiled through happy tears before glancing at Sally. One arm wrapped around jacks waist and the other hand held Sally's. "I love you both... so much"

Sally kissed her temple as Jack kissed her hair, continuing to hold her and Rock her. "We love you too, sweet Bella. Always will."

They stayed like that in each other's arms for what seemed like forever. Bella, who even though had a rough childhood, she was home now. She found her family and she was truly blessed to have Jack and Sally as her parents. And she was their pumpkin princess

Now and forever.
