Jack and sally looked at the sleeping girl, zero next to her legs. They watched her chest slowly rise up and down, the blankets pulled over her shoulders.
Poor thing... how ever did she end up in the cemetery? And what was she crying about?
Sally very gently sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at Bella, her hands resting in her lap.
"Poor thing... so exhausted." Jack whispered as he knelt down in front of his wife.
"What was she doing out there?" She asked softly as she looked at her husband.
"She was crying... but I don't know why. She seemed... scared..."
Usually scaring kids would bring a smile to his face. But with this girl... no this was different. He felt like he didn't want to scare her. Like... he wanted to protect her. Strange right? No not strange.
"I-I know we just met her but... I feel like we need to protect her." Sally suggested as she gently took her husbands hand in hers. "Don't you agree?" She asked as she glanced back at Bella.
Jack looked at her as well and sighed softly. "I feel the same way sally. I really do."
Bella stirred in her sleep when she heard them talking, her head moving against the pillow. Jack noticed and gently placed a hand on her head.
"Sleep child. It's alright..." he whispered. Hearing jacks soothing voice, she slowly fell back asleep.
The couple then looked at zero, who was nestled behind her legs, his chin resting on her knee. They wondered why he became so attached to her so quickly.
They shook it off as sally hugged him, resting her head against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on her head.
Little did they know... someone was watching them.
