Meant to be

Bella ended up falling asleep in jack's arms, on his lap with her head against his shoulder. Jack was gently stroking her hair while cradling her head.

Bella was like a daughter to him. Her being human didn't change the fact that she meant a lot to him and sally and he wanted to protect her.

So did sally.

"I'm gonna take her upstairs." Jack whispered so he didn't disturb her. Sally nodded before He carefully stood up with her in his arms bridal style,holding her close. She stirred slightly before she buried her face in the crook of his neck.

Jack's un beating heart melted against his chest as he carried her upstairs, zero right behind him. He was attached to Bella since the first day she ended up in halloween town.

When he got to the bedroom, he gently laid her down in bed and pulled the covers over her shoulders, making sure she was nice and warm. He sat down on the edge of the bed and very gently rubbed her head, sighing softly.

"Sweet dreams my sweet Bella." He whispered before leaning down and gently kissing her forehead, letting it linger a moment.

When he got up and left, he didn't notice the gentle and soft smile that formed on Bella's face as she slept.

In the morning, jack and sally were talking downstairs in the kitchen, holding each other's hands. But they were talking softly so they didn't wake up Bella, who was still asleep.

"Sally... I feel like a father to Bella. Even though we've only known her for a few days, I feel like we should protect her and give her the love she deserves.

Sally smiled softly as she gently squeezed her husbands bony hands. She felt the exact same way and was so happy with what jack was saying.

"I feel the exact same way jack. I feel like a mother to her. She's so sweet, kind and I don't mind that she's human. She deserves love and happiness. We can give that to her."

"We should adopt her. She deserves to be in a happy home filled with love and happiness. But let's tell her when she wakes up."

As if on cue, footsteps on the stairs could be heard so they turned their heads and saw Bella walking down, rubbing her face.

"Good morning Sweetie." Sally said with a gentle smile on her stitched lips. Bella looked at them and smiled tiredly.

"Good morning. I hope you slept well." She said softly as she sat down in one of the chairs.

After a minute, jack gently placed her hands over his and rubbed them with her thumbs. "We want to adopt you Bella." He said softly

Bella almost fell backwards. Did she hear him right? They wanted to adopt her?!!

Her eyes watered as she looked at jack, still in shock. "Y-you want to adopt me?"

Jack looked at Bella and gave a nod. "We both do. Ever since I found you, I felt this need to protect you and love you. We've always wanted a child but Sally isn't able to conceive." He said sadly.

"You're sweet,funny, kind, beautiful and you deserve love and happiness. We want you to be our daughter."

At that moment, Bella buried her face in her hands and started crying. She wasn't expecting this at all. But she was so happy.

Ever since she met Jack and sally, she looked up to them as if they were her parents. They protected her and made her feel safe. Jack even rescued her from oogie boogie!

Jack looked at her sadly, thinking she was upset. "Are you upset?" He asked worriedly, hoping she wasn't.

She shook her head no as she sniffled. "I-I'm the exact opposite. I'm so happy. Ever since I met you and sally, I've looked up to you as if you were my parents. I want to be your daughter."

Hearing her say that, made jack and Sally's heart soar. Sally placed a hand on her back and rubbed it in circles, her eyes watering.

Jack gently pulled her into his arms, wrapping one arm around her back, the other hand gently cradling her head. He rested his chin on top of her head as he rocked her gently.

Words couldn't describe how happy they were. Even though she wasn't adopted yet, they were so happy that she agreed to be their daughter. They would give her all the love and happiness she deserved.

"We love you sweetheart." Sally whispered before kissing her cheek, continuing to rub her back in circles.

They would go to town hall and talk to the meeting later that day. For now, they would embrace each other and just take in the fact that soon, jack and sally would be parents and Bella would be their sweet daughter.
