Sept 23
3:46amIncoherent sobs could be heard from all around the room. It was hard to depict where exactly the noises were erupting from, but Xiao could hear them clearly.
He found himself sitting in the middle of a pitch black room, where the only sounds he heard was the anonymous sobbing and his own breathing.
He could feel sweat running down his forehead as he frantically looked around. But everywhere he looked, he saw nothing but the isolating darkness that surrounded him.
The teal haired male knew this feeling all too well. His eyes fluttered shut as he began to hear peculiar voices coming from all around.
He grimaced at each statement they spat out.
Help her.
Why don't you help her?
She needs you.
But you can't help her, can you?
All you can do is watch helplessly, right?
How pitiful.
A sorry sight.
"Shut up," Xiao mumbled despite knowing full well his words wouldn't do anything.
But to his surprise, the voices suddenly stopped. The male lifted his head up and looked around once again, confused by the sudden silence.
Then a small figure appeared before him. A figure of a small girl. She was sitting down on her knees with her head tilted downwards.
Xiao felt despair the moment he saw the little girl. He could feel his heart beginning to ache.
The little girl seemed to be sobbing very quietly. So quiet that it could hardly be heard by the other male.
She slightly raised her head and looked directly at him, but didn't utter a word.
"I'm sorry," Xiao muttered quietly, looking at the girl with regretful eyes. The overwhelming guilt he was feeling was unbearable. After the accident had happened, he could only feel hatred towards himself.
"I'm sorry," he repeated once more. The little girl kept looking his way, her expression unwavering.
He could see no emotions displayed upon her face. Her gaze upon him was cold and emotionless. It was almost as if she was dead.
The very thought sent shivers down his spine. He wanted to cry but didn't. He couldn't. He didn't know how to react, nor did he know what to say. He felt a strange stillness within him.
It was as if time had stopped moving. As if everything had come to a stop.
It felt like he was locked up in chains, caged by his own growing guilt. He was in constant suffering. A never ending battle between him and his inner demon-like voices that were constantly reminding him of what happened.
There was nothing he could do to forgive himself.
Absolutely nothing.
