𝓣he next morning, you woke up to shouting. Groggily, you sat up at your desk. Drool ran down your cheek, sticking sheets of paper to your face. Your back felt insanely stiff, and you made a note to yourself to never fall asleep on the desk again.

You leave your room, yawning tiredly. In the living room, your brother and Anya were arguing.

"NO! NOO! I hate study time!" Anya yelled.

Loid's eyes narrowed. "I need to test your academic abilities," he said, holding up a packet of papers.

"I don't need to study!" Anya insisted. "I can just read-" She then trails off.

"So you plan to get by by cheating then?" Your brother scoffs. "Now listen here. If you don't pass this test-"

"Ok," you interrupt. You know how your brother could get when angry and immediately jumped in to diffuse the argument. "How about some breakfast?"

Loid doesn't say anything. He grabs his jacket and walks off. "I'm heading out. And you're not coming!" He shouts seeing how Anya got excited. "Stay with Y/n. She's in charge."

You roll your eyes. This fatherhood thing was not going to well for your brother. As you gathered some things to make you and Anya a small breakfast, said little girl continued to sneak out of the house, only to be caught by Loid every time. He then barricaded the door, locking the two of you inside.

Anya sprawled across the couch, a prominent pout on her face. You felt a bit bad. You weren't the best with kids and didn't really know the best way to comfort them. Plus, you weren't exactly the most...nurturing individual.

"Umm, Anya," you say. The words get kind of lost on your tongue. What do you say? "Uh, do you want any eggs? Or...if you don't like that, I can make something else... Maybe...um..."

Anya started to laugh. Your cheeks felt warm as you continued to stir the eggs in the skillet. Just kill you now.

All of sudden, you felt a small pair of arms wrap around your legs. "Anya wants eggs, Auntie. And cocoa!"

You give the child a soft smile. "Sure."

After finishing up the breakfast for the two of you, Anya switches on the TV and begins watching her typical show. While she's preoccupied, you take the time to go shower. Unknown to you, the young child got ahold of Loid's belongings and messed with things she shouldn't have.

You took an insanely long shower. As a spy, you never really knew when as the next time you'd be able to enjoy the luxury of a shower, as some missions would have you out in the field for long periods of time. So as a habit, you would take twenty and thirty minute showers. Of course your brother would be pissed about you wasting water, but he was the one paying the bill, not you.

You quietly hummed to yourself as your put on your undergarments. With the towel still wrapped around you walked back to your room. But before you opened the handle, something felt off. There was an unsettling feeling in the pit of your stomach.

You reached for the knife you had attached to your garter. Slowly, you opened the door to your room, immediately on the defense. Your eyes quickly scan your room, seeing that nothing was disturbed. Your clothes sat on the bed untouched. Nothing on your desk had been moved.

"Where's Anya?" You thought. "She's too quiet..."

You heard a sudden shift behind you. Out of the corner of your eye you see a man with a bat lunge for you. You drop down, throwing your towel in his face to obscure his vision. You jump on his back, pulling the two ends tight to suffocate him. He eventually passes out from lack of oxygen.
