Blaze had quickly finished her lunch after the little incident with Honey in the canteen. She hadn't meant to cause such a scene but she supposed it was kind of an occupational hazard. As an actress, drama and tension would follow her wherever she went. Hoping to meet some more of her new co-workers before Honey persuaded their opinions about them, Blaze hurried to the lobby where she acquired a map from Petal who just constantly spend her day there. "I told you Honey was going to love you." Her words still echoed in her head although Blaze stronger doubted that that was the truth.
According to her map, which she considered to be very accurate, she should be entering the Effects Department. Lighting, sound, special, CGI, visual. All of those types of behind-the-scenes skills that went into making a production as special as it could be and immerse the audience into the world on screen. Blaze had always hoped to work with some of these but she had never quite wrapped her head around it: She was a pretty face, good for being in front of the camera.
"Hello?" She knocked on the door to one room labeled as: Lighting. The sign had a star on it so Blaze wondered if that signified anyone from Beauty's star team. It would be great if it was but then she wondered if anyone would actually be here or if they were on a break. Nevertheless, it couldn't hurt to look around. Blaze entered the room to find it was very dark, perhaps the darkest room she had been in so far. The lights were switched off surprisingly and the blinds had been pulled down on the windows. She would have suspected the room all about light to be a little bit brighter than what she stood in now. "Hello! Anyone in here?" Blaze called out again only to be greeted with silence.
Believing the room to be empty, she shrugged her shoulders and consulted her map as best she could to try and work out where she could go next. Hmm, the trailer park sounded interesting. Perhaps she would meet her fellow stars there. As Blaze reached for the door, there was a sudden loud clatter coming from the room next to the one she was just about to leave. Before she could decide to do anything, the side door opened and two people coughing slightly came stumbling out. One of them reached for the light switch and Blaze's eyes screamed at the sudden alteration in her vision. "Oh sorry!" A woman's voice rang out across the room as a body came to block the light's assault. It was a noble and valiant effort but a fruitless one, whoever this person was, she was shorter than Blaze so did nothing to block the light.
She opened her eyes gingerly and blinked. Now with the light streaming in, Blaze could now see that the room was an absolute mess. This caused her to shudder because she absolutely hated mess of any kind and could already feel her skin start to crawl. Realising the girl was still trying to block the onslaught of light, Blaze laughed and waved her away. "Don't worry, I'm fine. It was just a surprise." She held out her hand as the second person came over to them. "My name is Blaze. It's nice to make your acquaintance." Seeing them both in proper light together, the aspiring actress realised that this pair were most likely twins. Not identical as they were a boy and girl but most definitely siblings if not twins.
The other person came to stand beside them and shook her hand. "Sliver and Starlight Holograms. Pleasure to meet you." They both had kind faces, wide eyes and bright smiles. Brimming with creativity. Blaze took an instant liking to them, for they appeared to just be themselves when everyone else had their guard up.
Starlight, whose hair was slightly singed and looking a lot like a turquoise bird's nest, suddenly spun to Blaze. "Are you here on a tour? We love tours, don't we Silver?" She excitedly grabbed her brother's arm and pulled him to the console in the middle of the room. "D.I.V.A. Activate welcome tour protocol." She spoke with a clear authority as a mechanical female voice rang out across the room. 'ACTIVATING WELCOME TOUR PROTOCOL. GOOD DAY, MISS HOLOGRAMS.' Blaze jumped at the sudden mouse but quickly tried to calm her nerves.
Sliver looked over from where his sister had held him captive to her. "You might want to take a seat." He gestured to one of the chairs over in the corner of the room. Blaze did as he suggested and sat near to them so she could feel included. "Do you have a history of motion sickness? Seizures? Epilepsy?" Sliver asked her a series of medical questions as he adjusted a pair of 3D glasses to fir snuggly on her face. After a moment of fiddling, he seemed to realise what he was doing and blushed. "Sorry." He muttered. "I'm sure you can do this yourself but our technology is very specific." Blaze didn't mind in the slightest. Sliver had amber-yellow eyes that glowed slightly and a sheepish smile. It was sweet and made Blaze return the expression without thinking much of it. If the majority of the star team were like them then perhaps things wouldn't be as bad as being with Honey had made them appear.
After a few minutes of Starlight pushing buttons and pulling levers to be accompanied by the whirring sound of technology coming to life, she gleefully clapped her hands and twirled. "Get ready..." Blaze was honestly curious to see what was going to happen because one of them was ecstatic and the other was exuding a sense of smug pride. Whatever it was, the Twins thought it was awesome. The Twins! Blaze had a flashback of Honey mentioning someone called that. That was clearly a nickname that had been given to them and secured the knowledge that the pair were actually twins.
There was what could only be described as a whooshing sound and all the lights around them switched on. They started to spin on some sort of conveyor belt and went up and down in some sort of rhythm. The colours changed from a warm white to space blacks, sea blues and amethyst purples. It looked like the pair had transported her to outer space. There was even a little shuttle manuvering through an asteroid field and a huge mass of constellations that were woven between distant planets. "Wow..." Blaze breathed, utterly transfixed with what she was seeing. The glasses made everything look like it was right in front of her. She knew how these glasses worked but had never seen them used in a light show about space.
The Twins looked proudly at their work. "Yeah, it is breathtaking." They agreed in unison before Sliver moved a knob on the console and the camera zoomed in on a giant cloud. "This is the Horse head nebula. A nebula is basically a cloud of gas given off from exploding stars." Blaze nodded at the lesson as Starlight turned the light show off.
She took the glasses off and smiled at the siblings. "How did you do that?" It surely couldn't just be all lights.
Sliver walked over to one of the lights. "The lights change colour to keep the environment but there's a holographic projector inside." He handed the small device to her. "Designed by yours truly." Blaze suspected that probably that statement applied to both of them.
Starlight looked at the map in her pocket. "Are you on a tour?" She repeated her question from before the light show.
Blaze shook her head. "No, I came here for a job interview with Petal and she gave me the job. I was going on a tour with Honey but that ended..."
"In death? Destruction? Arson? Poison?" The Twins eagerly looked to her to see whatever Honey had clearly inflicted; bouncing between possible scenario.
Their excitement made Blaze nervous. "No... None of that. We just had a disagreement and she left." Something in how they spoke startled her. "You're afraid of Honey." The Twins nodded although they didn't look ashamed. "Why?"
Starlight laughed. "Because she's an assassin who's been able to kill since she could walk and before she could talk. Plus, she's really smart. Like, nearly as smart as us." Sliver nodded beside his twin, collecting some things off a desk. "Yet we respect her greatly. She's a good friend." Blaze scoffed and sighed.
"I guess you're all on her side then, I'm the new girl who no one will like." She surprised herself by not really being surprised by this.
Sliver shrugged his shoulders. "Honey isn't irrational. If she gets into a fight, verbal or physical, she has a reason and she's often always right." He thought for a moment. "Although there is one person here who would always play Devil's advocate to her: Shadow Boom. He's your co-star and Honey's boyfriend. I'll think we'll take you to him now. You need to get to know more people." Starlight smiled and nodded as she tied her mass of hair up into a ponytail and looped an arm through her brother and new friend.
Blaze smiled at the pair. "Thank you, that's very kind." She hoped Shadow would be nice.
"Don't worry, it's what we do." Starlight grinned and the trio walked to the trailer park.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter, it is up earlier which I hope you like. I liked introducing the Twins. I will update again tomorrow bye, bye.
