Chapter 24: Contracts

Petal and Sarah had left to get some food for Amy and Beauty and were surprised to see her awake. Though they were pleased to see her, the two woman needed to know what had happened. The attack had been sudden and swift which Petal knew was one of Dagger's techniques. Sarah on the other hand knew how terrible Beauty would feel once she woke up. It appeared that the kinder of the two women was right as Beauty was tightly hugging her daughter with a lost expression.

Sarah placed the food on a nearby table. "I'm glad to see you're awake. You've been asleep for a good few hours. How do you feel?" Her best friend could be difficult at times yet it was the pair of them against the world. In her mind, Sarah owed Beauty her life for saving her when they first became friends.

Beauty smiled at her as she stroked Amy's hair. "I've been better. Where are the others? I'm surprised to see Amy without any company." Amy laughed slightly although there was a hint of worry in her voice. Petal and Sarah also looked concerned. Beauty wasn't one to like or have things be hidden from her. "Where are my workers?" She asked again in a sterner tone with more menace in her voice.

Petal gestured around them all. "Shadow took Sonic to try and do some of the least specific tasks. The Twins are working on the more technical elements. Athena went for a walk and Branch disappeared soon after Honey took Blaze." She was about to continue when Beauty held her hand up.

"Honey took Blaze, why?" Beauty liked Honey well enough yet she knew just how dangerous her apprentice could be. If she decided to take Blaze for a talk or something more sinister, then it could end up with a lot of blood spilt.

Petal sighed. "It's a miracle that they haven't killed each other or gone on a date yet. Frankly this could be both of that. The pair of them got into a little argument yet Honey stopped from actually attacking her. Then she took her to Trauma Town probably. They might be back soon or tomorrow, I don't know." The older assassin rubbed her head and took a deep breath.

Beauty nodded to her words and groaned. "So Dagger has a little playtime and my entire star team goes kaboom?! This is ridiculous. Sarah, sweetie, please can you get me my watch?" Sarah nodded and hurried off to her office to collect the watch. The watch allowed Beauty to not only see where her team was but also communicate with them.

Amy sighed and stretched against her mother. "It's not all dreadful. They've probably just forgotten what it is like for you to be in control. Honey was very well prepared, as was Petal." The young artist smiled at her mother's friend who returned the gesture.

"Yes, however I'm afraid your head may hurt for a while. We knocked you out by hitting you over the head with a sack. Probably hurt." She smiled at Beauty who rubbed her head.

At that moment, the doors to the medical wing opened and the three Booms walked in. Sonic smiled when he saw both Amy and Beauty were awake and raced over to them. He then stood patiently by her bed while the two women cuddled. Beauty realised him waiting and gently pushed Amy from her so she fell easily into his arms. "Thank you." He grinned as he carried Amy bridal style over to her own bed and the pair started to cuddle. "I missed you." Sonic mumbled against her hair.

Amy smiled and wrapped herself tighter into his hold. Shadow grinned at her affection yet found himself groaning when his brother moved in to kiss her. It was weird how the one who initiated the act of affection had an affect on how he reacted. "How do you feel Beauty?" He turned to his boss and Godmother who was eagerly awaiting her watch.

Sarah approached her friend and attached the item to her wrist. "I'm very well, thank you Shadow. All I need now is to get everyone here so I can whip them into shape. How are the newest recruits doing?" Beauty turned to her main actor who gave a non-committal shrug.
