Amy was all to aware of the legacy her family owned. First they were rich and powerful, controlling the town and shaping it into their own image. Then they were an explosive, volatile and violent family that caused the deaths of innocent neighbors over very petty things. Broken, emotional, reckless, dangerous. Honestly the list to describe the Roses' went on and on and on. You could find a million negative things to say about them but be hard pressed to find any positives. All the Roses has ever done was make the lives of the people around them miserable and often end prematurely.

Amy was the only one in three generations of Roses who didn't appear to be obsessed with something. It was true, she wasn't. Amy had grown up listening to the stories of her elders and seeing what being a Rose had done to her mother and subsequently been done on to her. Thorn was obsessed with keeping order and control. Rosetta was obsessed with trying to escape the life she was forced into. Star was obsessed with having Shift and the most power. Beauty was obsessed with making everyone suffer in her journey for revenge. She had nothing of great interest to revolve her life around. She loved Sonic more than anything else in the entire world and one day wished to be known as Amy Boom with some children. But she wasn't going to bet her entire life on having a happy life with Sonic.

Amy often wondered how different her life would be if she had a sibling. They woulf most likely be a sister as Roses had a surprisingly higher chance of producing daughters. They were a very matriarchal family, the woman had the final say. The family name came from the females, the properties had their name first and in general the men in their life bolstered their ambitions. Thorn was a complete self-centred jerk to everyone but even he bowed down and took Rosetta's last name. That wasn't to mean that he would always follow her lead and in a few short years, he would be the one on control. Star and Beauty were never overly close but they had been friends before Shift and Thorn had gotten in the way. Unlike Honey however, Amy didn't blame Shift for all the bad things in her life. The Rose family was toxic in a plain and simple sense. Their rules and expectations were not compatible with any society and their beliefs were radical. If you crossed them, you died.

In a weird sort of way, Amy often thought that there was more pressure on her because she was different. Now people were watching her grow up into a person completely different from the rest of her family. They looked to her to change things and redeem the Rose name. Despite them no longer being the mayors, the population of Rosepetal did still look to them to solve their problems when needed. Amy didn't want to let them down and leave them to suffer but her family legacy also needed upholding. The Roses had made a lot of enemies over the decades and should they sense a weakness, things could get dangerous. This was why Amy wished she had a sibling, someone who could help to spread the burden. Never take it all on themselves but lessen it on Amy so she could enjoy her life with a husband and children without having to become cruel and cold or need a ridiculous power above everyone in her life. That wasn't who she was.

Lost in thought, Amy didn't hear the rooftop door opening or someone walking through. It wasn't until that person sat down behind her and wrapped their arms tightly around her in an embrace that Amy became aware of who it was. "Hey Sonic." She smiled to herself as she allowed herself to sink into his arms. "How did you know I was here?" She hasn't been up here long bit Sonic and her had this kind of sixth sense that allowed one to find the other.

Sonic chuckled as he kissed the top of her head. "Oh it was easy really, I just listened for the sound of complete and utter adoration for me and followed it." He continued to dote her face in kisses as she giggled. God, Sonic loved it when Amy laughed. He would do anything to make her laugh forever.

Amy didn't mind it when Sonic was affectionate in the slightest. It warmed her entire being. Plus, her mother wasn't a particularly affectionate person and she'd heard Sarah describe her more than once as 'touch starved'. She was fairly certain it was that, it may as well have just been 'starved'. Beauty had gotten better over the years at feeding Amy proper food and from a young age she had learnt to make food for herself. Amy had never been close to death because of her malnutrition however it did contribute to her petite figure. Sonic liked to make sure that she was eating well although that could be quite tricky. Amy didn't like eating large portions of food because an overwhelming guilt filled her that she was eating these good nutrients when there were younger, more starving children than her in the world.

Again, her thoughts were interrupted by Sonic. This time having somehow gotten her to lie on her back. He was lying on top of her now, lips having moved from kissing her hair to softly nipping at her neck. "Sonic..." Amy really didn't mind his affections, especially like these but she wasn't sure how she felt about being on top of the roof. It wasn't pubic exactly but neither private either. The worst thing in the world Amy could think of was Beauty walking up here and seeing Sonic lying on top of her daughter. The thought made her mentally squirm with embarrassment.

Sonic didn't seem to notice her sudden nerves. "What?" He teased, turning the nipping into very gentle sucks. Amy gasped although she hadn't meant to but she hadn't expected the change.

"You know what!" She hissed at him through gritted teeth. While what he was doing was very nice, Amy wasn't a fan of Sonic playing dumb.

Clearly unhappy with her tone, Sonic pulled away and sat up so he was straddling her. "You don't sound happy." He pouted and started to play with her hair.

Amy sighed as she desperately tried to control her rapid heartbeat. "I am, really. I just..."

"Have something else on your mind?" He grinned at her softly, his voice more friendly than one a lover would use.

Amy hated that even with Sonic her family got in the way. "I'm not my Mother, am I?" He shook his head vehemently. "I just feel that I will believe that and then when we have children, I'll actually be a lot like her and I-" Sonic cut her off with a gentle kiss to the lips. "Don't cut me off when I'm ranting!" Amy huffed, crossing her arms.

Sonic laughed. "Sorry, mon amour, but I need to inject." He waited to see if he could continue before speaking. "Your Mother is a crazy, heartbroken killer. Last time I checked, you were only one of those. She's also incredibly lonely. I promise you that you will never be lonely." Kiss. "Heartbroken." Kiss. "Or a terrible Mother." Kiss. "While I do not wish to be arrogant, I believe that I am the only person capable of changing that and I won't let that happen. Even if you do turn out to be not the best parent like her, our kids will still have me and my family to look after them. Beauty had no one, you have me." Kiss.

Amy had been quiet throughout Sonic's little pep talk. It made her slightly ashamed to admit her eyes had filled up. She just hadn't expected him to be so open with her. Amy was normally the one who spoke with a lot of emotion. "You said our kids." That was all she could manage without turning into a mess.

Sonic laughed. "You started it." He pulled her up slightly so the pair were cuddling. "I love you Amy Rose. Petals, thorns, leaves and all." He wiped away the tears that had started to fall.

"I love you too Sonic Boom." Amy couldn't wait until they shared last name.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter, apologies that it is a day late. After we have come back from Legoland, it appears I've come home with a cold. I'm getting better though. I thought that all the romantic stuff between Sonic and Amy was very sweet. I will hopefully update again tomorrow if I continue to get better. Bye, bye.
