Makenzie's POV
I walked out of the room shaking. My hands where numb and I felt cold. I can't believe I hadn't remembered those memories, they were some of the last happy ones I had. My father had been working on some case. It was the last real one he did. I needed to talk to my dad and ask him what he remembered. I played with the phone in my hands, nervously debating. So the only thing that brought into question is why Jennifer was involved in my dada's investigation and what my mom had to do with it. I wondered where she was, my dad and I never visited her grave.... But I was too little to understand. Did my dad have something to do with this? The possibility seemed unfathomable. I decided I needed see some of my dad's old cases, so I decided to call the department. I dialed and waited a moment, holding my breath."Chicago Police Department, this is Danielle speaking, How can I help you." I let out a slow breath, I hadn't expected her.
"Hi, is Margo Sullivan still there?"
"Margo? Yeah she is still here, so only works part time now though. She may still be here, is there a name I can give her?"
"Um yeah... Makenzie Carver." I didn't want to give her a name she might recognize, or one the office might. I didn't know when Danielle had started.
"Alright let me see I if can catch her." I was left with hold music playing. A moment later I heard the telltale click of the phone being picked up.
"Hello," I heard the older lady say into the phone.
"Miss Sullivan, Margo, it's Makenzie, Makenzie Carver."
"Oh hi honey! How are you? I haven't heard from you in quite some time."
"I'm doing fine Miss Margo."
"Honey Please, it's Margo to you."
"How are you, Margo? I heard you're part time now."
"I'm fine dear, got some health things I'm working through and wanted some more time with the grandkiddos. I got a new one this past year and another one on the way come September."
"Aw the precious."
"You know you should come to dinner, you and your family, I'm sure Melanie, Stephan, Tori and Travis would love to see you! And you could meet all the littles."
"I would love too Margo!"
"Now I know as nice as this is, this isn't just a social call." I sighed,
"You got me Margo, I actually was wondering if I could pull some of my dad's files? I thought they should be fine because its been almost twenty years..."
"Which ones did you want to pull?"
"um Im not sure, I just was wondering if I could look around maybe. "
"I think that would be alright, do you want to come in this afternoon?"
"Um actually Im out of town at this moment, but would tomorrow work?"
"Sure hun, just pop in and say you're here for me. They should let you in and I should be here tomorrow. If not then tell them they can call me."
"Okay, thank you so much, Margo."
"No problem sweetie, just let me know when you want to have that dinner!"
"Okay, will do! Thank you again!"
"Of course, hun. Alright I'll let you go."
"Oh buh-bye Margo."
"Okay talk to you soon sweetheart, buh-bye!" And with that the phone call dropped.
