9th February 2026

Four years, it took them four years to come to this point. Both of them sat hopelessly facing each other as Chaeyoung sighed, it was all too overwhelming.

"We need a break Jeon, this is not working," Chae spoke up finally locking eyes with Jungkook. "I am busy, you are busy, the final years of our careers are almost here, and every fight in the last two weeks has broken us. I believe you Jungkook, that you would never cheat but this is not how a relationship works, so yeah."

"I agree," Jungkook hummed slowly as he stood up and hugged Chaeyoung saying, "I will take my stuff by evening, don't worry, Chae-ah."

"Hmm, okay," she replied hugging him back.

As Jungkook left for HYBE, Chaeyoung crawled up and sat by the windowsill. Little snowflakes were falling from the cloudy sky as Chaeyoung's breath fogged the glass. She took leave that day, in hopes of getting to spend time with Jungkook but they argued instead. Getting up she made herself a cup of cappuccino putting extra cream on the top, she needs it, and she just does. Sipping it slowly she sat again humming 'Waiting for Us' by Stray Kids. It was their old song in a two thousand twenty-two album 'Oddinary'.

A few hours later Lisa called her and practically begged her to go to a café. Sitting inside Lisa's car her min roamed around Jungkook only when they would go on late-night drives, just their hands intertwined and hearts beating rapidly.

She remembers their first kiss, on the new year of twenty-two, the smile that was constantly on their lips. The time when Chaeyoung forgot multiple dates and as obvious, Jungkook was angry with her. So she knocked on his door, and when he didn't open it, she sang with her guitar on his front door like a high-school girl. Every morning when neither of them wants to wake up, they fight for the blanket, as laughter fills the room. Every night when they would want to take a midnight dip in the pool of their shared house, free in the water, away from all problems in life.

Or when the time Chaeyoung got jealous and literally ruined him that night, even though he is in charge, most of the times. But mostly when they informed the fans about their relationship. A lot hated them, but a lot loved, them from both sides. But they, they were always together, until now, when they were breaking apart.

She hated the fact, that they were taking a break. Ninth February, same emotions, different times. It felt like she has moved back to the past. Zoning out on her thoughts she realised suddenly that Lisa had been calling her name for the last fifteen minutes.

"Get out of the car stupid," Lisa said rolling her eyes at her. "Lis, I don't see a café here," Chae said but got out padding her feet slowly on the snow outside.

The place was beautiful, like a picnic spot, but since it was winter it was empty. Wait a minute, she didn't know where she was. Turning around frantically she saw Lisa nowhere and was about to take out her phone when a hand grabbed her from behind.

Swiftly kicking that person's ankle Chaeyoung turned around to face him and saw Jungkook groaning in pain. "Seriously?' he questioned as Chaeyoung shrugged, "What, it could have been anyone okay?"

Brushing her Jeans she looked up and saw Jungkook sitting with both his knees on the ground while holding out a ring that was shining in the afternoon light.

"Ninth February, the day I shattered your heart Chaeyoung at three forty-five in the afternoon, and it has always been a dent in your soul. It will always be a sad day for you, and since words of sorry can't cover it enough, I want you to remember this day with something else. Sorry for ignoring you in the past two weeks, love, but preparing for this was tiring. I have loved you for a long time, you light up my life and I could go on ranting with all the shit people say at proposals, but I think you know how I feel. So today, at three forty-five, I ask you, Park Chaeyoung, will you be Mrs Jeon?" Jungkook asked.

Chaeyoung sat down on her knees too and whispered a 'yes' before leaning in to kiss him.

"You knew this was coming didn't you?" Jungkook asked as he slowly slipped the ring on her finger. "Well yeah, I mean two weeks ago you went to a jewellery shop with Yeji, and you made sure I could see it. When I asked Yeonjun, his overdramatic ass about him asking Yeji what was going on made me realise what exactly you were doing. Come on if you want to cheat, why you would take your partner to a jewellery shop. True I kept squealing the past two weeks, in excitement whenever you weren't around. Then the typical cliché of you ignoring me, and thus to spice it up I agreed to take a break this morning and of course, you obliged. And suddenly Lisa wants me to go with her to a café and that too urgently. As soon as we reached here, Lisa ran away in the car with Taehyung who was standing in the back. So yeah, I knew, I mean Jungkook, I am still older than you," Chaeyoung finished, smirking.

"So little miss detective, shall we go on a real date now?" Jungkook asked tucking a strand of her hair as they were standing. "I don't think you need to ask your soon-to-be wife that anymore, Mr Jeon. Finally, after so many years of you trying I am your stolen sweetheart aren't I?" she asked.

"You are, you are my stolen sweetheart, Chaeyoung. And I promise you I will never let you go," he whispered interlocking their hands as they walked towards the car.
