When he walked into the house with the groceries and bunch of daffodils, it was deathly quiet. "Defne?" Thinking that she must be upstairs, he walked into the kitchen. "Defne?" He was eager to share his news with her, knowing she'd get a small kick out of knowing how he had fooled Deniz.
There was no answer, but he moved to the cupboard pulling out a small vase and filling it with water, looking around to see if she had come downstairs. "Defne?" Placing the flowers in the vase he frowned, getting concerned with her lack of response. "Defne?"
Striding into the living room he looked around. She wasn't here. "Defne..." His heart started to pound and he saw the open back door. Striding out into the garden, he looked around, not seeing her. His entire stomach churned, it was the house on the hill all over again, she'd left him. Again.
Standing with his hands on his hips, he let his head fall towards his shoulders, defeated. His mind was racing, they'd been doing well, they were getting closer again, he thought she wanted the same things as he did. It was that single moment of grief that solidified his feelings for her I'm his kind, he still loved her and had wanted them to have a second chance.
"Omer!"
Her voice cut into him, and he turned in confusion towards the sound, seeing her at the back of the garden, in amongst the plants. The smile on her face took his breath away. His chest flooded with hope and love, and he strode towards her, overcome with relief. She was here, she hadn't left him. His throat was clogged with grateful emotion.
Defne stood with a small smile on her face, watching him as Omer strode towards her. Stepping out from behind the plants, she removed her gardening gloves and stopped in front of him, smiling as he searched her face seriously for a few long seconds, before swooping down and capturing her lips with his. His heart soared as she returned his kiss, her arms sliding around his shoulders as he cupped her face in his hands to keep her lips against him. It was like their first kiss all over again, the butterflies in his stomach swooping to the depths of his insides. Like free falling.
Omer pulled back, his hand falling to grasp hers as he looked down at her with a soft smile. Her eyes shone back up at him, always so beautiful and expressive.
"Oh my! Oh my! Who've we got here? What are you up to out here?" Both pulled away from each other awkwardly as Koray's voice cut into their happy bubble. Turning, they watched Koray striding across the garden towards them. Koray pulled Defne into an embrace first. "My skinny girl!" Kissing Omer's cheeks. "My Omush!"
Stepping back he looked between them. "What were you doing?"
Defne blushed. "Uh Koray Bey, we..."
"You what? Were you kissing?" Defne looked at Omer sharply, his eyes on her. "Well then, let me kiss you one more time..." He grabbed Omer by the shoulders.
"Stop! Koray, enough."
"Ay, so tell me. Were you kissing in a romantic sense? Or did I misunderstand it? Should I go? I mean to be honest, I'm already here! So, I can't go anymore... I wonder why I came again."
Omer shook his head, annoyed at the untimely interruption. Something always seemed to stop him from getting closer to Defne. "Why are you here?"
Defne looked at Koray, following Omer's lead. "Yes, why are you here?"
Koray looked confused. "Uh, why am I here? I came to congratulate Omush! He saved us from our troubles! I came because he's saved us from a rough ride."
"Alright Koray, thank you."
"Darling shut up! Can I just thank you here?" Koray's eyes narrowed in faux annoyance.
