On the morning of the fourth day, Shoyo wakes up before Tobio. He realizes with a strange mixture of relief and disappointment that his heat is over. That means no more Tobio 24-7 and the thought makes him feel empty and sad.

He turns to watch Tobio sleep. When resting, the bouncer's face is relaxed and those little lines between his eyes are absent. He looks gorgeous with his dark hair partially obscuring his eyes. Shoyo reaches up to gently tease it away so he can see Tobio's face more clearly. He inhales to get a whiff of the intoxicating smell of pine and fresh rain. He sighs with contentment.

The last three days have been amazing. Shoyo has never felt so close and connected to anyone before and thinks he could really get used to this feeling, this connection, this intimacy. And now it has to end and the loss seems almost overwhelming in contrast to the bliss of the last few days.

As Shoyo is frowning over the impending separation, Tobio wakes. He opens those gorgeous blue eyes which are not quite alert and awake yet.

"Hey," he says, sleepily and with a small upturn of his mouth.

"Hey," replies Shoyo, taking another chance to brush Tobio's hair off his forehead.

"Did you sleep well? Are you okay? Do you need... anything?"

Shoyo smiles at the concern in Tobio's voice. "I'm good. My heat is over."

"Oh," says Tobio and Shoyo is convinced he is disappointed as well.

"You sound disappointed."

Tobio isn't quite sure how to respond, but figures it's just Shoyo so he can be honest. "I guess I am. A little." A faint blush taints his cheeks and he looks embarrassed at the admission.

Shoyo smiles back. "Well then. I guess we'll just have to look forward to next time."

"Next time?"

"Yeah, if you're up to it, alpha." Shoyo throws out the last word as a caress. It does strange things to Tobio's brain.

After a moment of processing, Tobio answers, "I could be. I think." He smiles softly to show he's teasing.

Shoyo smiles back brightly. "Good. I think I'd like that, but now I guess we have to go back to work."

"I suppose," Tobio answers looking at his phone. "But not RIGHT now."

"No, not right now," Shoyo agrees. "What do you have in mind?"

Tobio grabs him by the back of the neck and pulls him in for a heated kiss. When it's over, Shoyo agrees, "Oh, well, I guess I could be persuaded."

A few hours later, they emerge from the bedroom after having showered together. Tobio is wearing his clothes from three days ago, not that he'd had much use for clothes since he's been here. He needs to go home to change and check his mail, so they agree to meet again at work. Before stepping out of the apartment, Tobio scents Shoyo, making the omega purr with delight.

Kageyama is the first to arrive at The Wingless Crow. Daichi is behind the bar checking stock and Suga is wiping down tables. Kageyama tucks his head down as he says hello and makes his way to the staff room.

He, unfortunately, finds Kuroo near the lockers and his stomach drops at the thought of having to face his friend. He has a feeling this is going to be uncomfortable.

"Kageyama, my man! You're back."

"Mmhmm," Kageyama mumbles, taking off his jacket and avoiding eye contact.
