CHAPTER 13: what just happened?

Amelia P.O.V

I had just come out of my dad's office. It had been an intense couple of days, especially today, and I just wanted to go to my room and go to sleep, but I stopped in my tracks. What the hell was I going to say to Jinx? We kissed..... WE KISSED...... HOLY FUCK I KISSED JINX. I could feel my heart jumping into my vocal cords and I had no idea what was waiting for me beyond the door to the room I share with Jinx, but I knew that I needed to face her eventually. I just hope it goes well.

With one swift move, I pried open the doors to see Jinx phasing the room with a worried look on her face. When she heard the door, she looked over to me, and a look of relief washed over her face.

"Oh my God, toots, are you okay? What happened? Do you need me to go and talk to Silco and explain what happened? Does he know that we still got some weapons? I mean, I know it's not as many as we hoped, but we still got some. That counts right? I mean, it should count. "

I let out a little chuckle. Sometimes she is so cute when she is rambling like that, it makes me smile. She stopped talking and looked me in the eyes with a little blush dusting her cheeps. 

"I'm fine, birdy. My father may be irritated that we didn't get as many weapons as he required, but he understands what happened and why you did what you did; it's all right, birdy; I promise."

Jinx pulled me into a hug with a look of relief on her face and then pulled away just as quickly.

"Shall we talk about what happened before the mission?"

I saw just as much hesitation on her face as there was on mine. I knew it was going to come up, but after the day we had it was the last thing on my mind.

"I'm tired, birdy. It's been a long day for both of us. Let's get some sleep and we can talk about it tomorrow. It gives us both time to think."

She gave me a nod and we both got ready for bed. I was fast asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow and fell into a sort of peaceful slumber thinking about what I was going to say to Jinx tomorrow. 

Jinx P.O.V

Amelia had just gone to bed, but I was still wide awake. I couldn't sleep. My mind was playing with me and I couldn't think straight.

'Why would she want to be with you?'

'Being with you is going to hurt her'

'You jinx everything and she will die because of you'

'She doesn't love you, she pities you'

'You should leave her alone; she will be better without you'

The voices were too loud, screaming at me, and I can't help but believe they're true.I would never want to put my sugar pie in any sort of danger, She means everything to me. I have made up my mind about what I'm going to do next. I just hope it goes the way I want it to. 

The next morning,

Still Jinx P.O.V

I had been awake for hours without even realising I was so stuck in my thoughts that I didn't even hear Amelia wake up and walk over to me.

"Hey, birdy, Are you all right? You don't look like you've slept. "

"I have been thinking about yesterday's sugar and I think its time we talked.

She pulled up a chair and sat next to me. I took a deep breath and prepared for what I was about to say.

"It means nothing to me......I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that to you, but kissing you and letting you kiss me was a mistake. You are my friend, and I didn't want to hurt you by leading you on. "

I turned slightly to see her face. She had a face of shock and hurt. I didn't want to say that to her. God, I wanted to say the kiss meant everything to me and hold her in my arms, but this is for the best. If the voices in my head are right, then her being with me will get her killed, and I can't have that.

Before she could say anything back, there was a knock at the door and Silco walked in.

"Morning girls, Jinx, can you come with me? I need to talk to you."

He walked out, and I took one last look at Amelia before I followed him out the door to his office. I could feel my heart breaking, but I needed to do this for her. 

I sat on Silco's desk and drew my legs up to my chest as Silco made his way to his chair. 

"Are you okay, Jinx?"

"I'm fine, just didn't sleep, that's all. What do you need?"

He gave me a quick look before answering.

I know you've all done a lot, but I need you and Sevika to go on a shimmer delivery; it's critical that I receive this shipment and that nothing goes wrong.

"What about Amelia? Is she not coming?"

"No, I need Amelia to do something for me down at the last drop, so she can't go with you."

I gave a quick nod and started heading to where I needed to be, but before I made it to the door, Silco shouted me back over.

"Jinx, I know there is something going on between you and Amelia and I'm not going to sit here and say you both can't be together. She is my daughter, but so are you, and I want what is best for the both of you, so be careful and let yourself be happy. "

(We adore a supportive father moment)

I gave a quick nod before walking out the door to meet Sevika for the mission.
