Reyna snapped in front of my face to get my attention. Why would you just forgive him? She signed.

I sighed. "It's fine Reyna. Really. And besides, now I get to wear your comfy sweater." She smiled ever so slightly. I still felt odd about talking when I couldn't hear what I was saying, but Reyna made it easier. "Fine." She said, speaking slower for my sake. "But please don't just let him off easy cause you think he's cute."

I blushed. Reyna was the only one I told about my "thing" for Percy. It didn't even matter. He didn't even know I existed til today. Now he does know me, as the deaf kid that his friend threw chili at. Typical.

We said our goodbyes and went to our separate classes. She had Roman mythology while I was taking Greek.

Greek wasn't too bad. Chiron was a cool teacher. He was the only one who knew sign language so he was the easiest to talk to. Plus, after he finished a lesson he'd always come over and make sure I understood everything.

I was the first one in class, so I made my way to my usual seat in the back. Chiron tapped me on the shoulder. I had to look down at him, being in a wheelchair and all.

"Good afternoon Nico! Might I say how well you did on your quiz today. The only hundred in class." he said while signing for good measure.

I smiled a bit. Thanks, sir, I signed in response. Part of me was flattered by the complement. The other half wondered where this conversation was heading.

"Now, because you're doing so well in my class, I thought maybe you could help some of my other students do the same."

Yup. I knew it. No teacher gives out complements with no favors attached. Not even the cool ones.

I don't know, I signed. It might be a little difficult cause... you know. I motioned to my ears.

Chiron smiled. He reminded me of those wise old teachers that taught all the great heroes of Greek mythology. "If it makes you feel better, I'll ask that Ms. Ramírez-Arellano joins your tutoring session as a bit of a translator."

I thought it over. I would do a lot better with Reyna around. Finally, I nodded. Sure, I'll do it. But who am I tutoring? I thought everyone in this class did pretty well.

"That's because this student isn't in this class."

"Are you familiar with Mr. Perseus Jackson?"

...

I wonder where this is going 👀

Feedback is appreciated! Good or bad!
