i quickly learned that mini guy was named lee, who, immediately after my question, looked straight to guy for an answer.
"of course."
"but - guy sensei. . ."
"lee, when you are asked to do something by a pretty girl, you just gotta do it," guy explained as he began walking again, towards the exit. lee quickly nodded, falling face first over any word coming from guy's mouth. if it weren't for the covering on my face the two would see my blush; i had never expected the might guy i grew up with to call me pretty, let alone grow into such a strong physique.
"lee, is it?"
"yes, ma'am," he quickly stated as i turned my head to see him whilst we walked in a line towards the exit. his wide eyes looked up towards me just as a smile grew to my face.
"you remind me an awful lot of someone from home. . ." i drifted off, quickly looking straight once more as thoughts of might guy as a child filled my head. i closed my eyes as he opened the door ahead, reminding myself that no amount of reminiscences would bring me back to those days.
"unfortunately you weren't here a day sooner. the sun was shining, then," guy stated as he looked up, towards the darkened gray clouds weighing upon konoha's atmosphere. my gaze lowered again, watching guy as he walked ahead, towards the great stairs that led straight above the hokage's stone monument. lee awaited beside me, looking up at me expectantly.
"do not worry, miss," he ensured, likely thinking i was nervous to walk up so many stairs, but i had done that hundreds of times. still, i offered lee a friendly gaze before following guy, who waited at the base of the steps. as soon as i approached closer, guy began the journey up, glancing back down at us every few steps. lost in my own admiration of the stairwell as my had gently touched the railing, a sigh escaped my lips as a feeling of electricity travelled through my veins; this was deja vu.
the feeling of my clothing being pulled at forced me to look back again, seeing lee knelt down behind me with a hand full of my dress. he held it high enough to uncover my feet.
"oh - thank you," i managed to speak before taking the first step. looking upwards, guy was waiting at the halfway mark with a smile, reminding me where lee had gotten those manners from; guy was always extra sweet.
"a competition, huh?" guy smiled at the two of us as we caught up to him. stopping in my tracks, i was uncertain what he meant, though i was quickly reminded of guy's competitive nature, especially towards kakashi. i wondered if the two upheld the same rivalry.
before lee or i could speak, guy picked me up, placing me on his back as i, instinctively, grabbed onto his shoulders.
"guy -!" i yelped, swiftly reminding myself; you are a regular woman. do not hit him.
"meet you at the top, lee!" guy exclaimed, taking off at an incredible speed. looking down, the space from us and the base of the stairs exponentially heightened, forcing me to hold on tighter. i mentally cursed myself, wondering how much different my life would be if i had just been born a boy. though, something told me it would be no different, and guy would still carry me up these stairs. still, the air at the top felt heavy, reminding me that it would be raining soon, and i had yet to see naruto.
releasing my grip on his shoulders at the same time he let go of my legs, i finally got off of guy's back as lee quickly caught up to us.
straightening the flow of my clothing, guy continued walking confidently towards the edge of the cliff, standing above the second hokage's forehead.
"it's always so beautiful up here," he stated, admiring the view of konoha. walking alongside lee, we caught up to guy, who stood at the very edge, looking down with no fear whatsoever.
