I went down to breakfast the next morning by myself and walked to the Ravenclaw table avoiding all the staring eyes. Just as I sat down I felt someone hugging me.

"Marlene!" I cried turning to face her, "I missed youuuuu" she whined. I rolled my eyes. "I was only gone one night and you were asleep for most of the time!" She stuck out her bottom lip. "I missed you!" She repeated. I just laughed. "Come sit at the Gryffindor table with us. You can meet my new friends!" I was reluctant. I was sure you were supposed to sit with your house at meals. "But Marlene I'm a Ravenclaw" she shrugged. "So? Loads of Hufflepuffs are sitting with the Slytherin's!" I turn and see she's right. A few Hufflepuffs were at the Slytherin table and, to my surprise I even saw a Ravenclaw sitting next to Andromeda Black. (A/N Ted Tonks if you hadn't guessed. He is a Ravenclaw muggleborn but loads of fics I've read say he's either a muggle or a Hufflepuff but this is what the internet said...) I turn back to Marlene and let her drag me to her new friends.

I smiled at Mary and Dorcas and they greeted me equally warm. I was happy to see they were unfazed by our house difference. I smiled at a beautiful ginger girl with emerald green eyes. She took out her hand and very formally said "Lily Evans" I thought to see if I recognised her surname but didn't. Lily recognised the look on my face and said uncomfortably "I'm muggleborn" I realised what I had come across as. "Just to be clear I don't judge people on their blood status. Dad would never have been elected if he believed in that bullshit." She looked relieved but slightly bitter about my language as she went back to her toast.

I turned to the other girl. She had a round face and dark brown hair in a braid. Her eyes were bright and in twenty years time her son would look almost identical to her. "Alice Fortescue" she said with a small smile. The name Fortescue rang a bell. I looked at her quizzically and she understood my question. "My uncle owns the ice cream shop in Diagon Ally" I nod as I remembered the trip to buy my school stuff.

We spend the rest of breakfast talking and laughing. When we left to go to our lessons, I had to say goodbye to them, as I had a different timetable but promised to see them at lunch again. Just as I watched them go to Herbology I felt someone tap my shoulder.

I turn around and saw Remus Lupin. The werewolf. Something in me wanted to run away screaming but then I remembered that it was only the full moon in two weeks time. He should be harmless at the moment. I smiled up at him but he didn't return it. "Can I talk to you somewhere more private?" He asked. I didn't want to be late for my first lesson but nodded any way. We went into an empty classroom and he began to talk.

"I saw your face when my name was called at the sorting and I began to feel scared. After the feast, when I went to Professor McGonagall and she said that you would probably know. If you don't know then I'm sorry and I've really confused you-" I cut him off before he could finish. "Remus, I do know and I don't care. Your harmless right now and as long as i stay clear of you on a full moon I'll be fine. And if Dumbledore trust's you then I trust you." He looked relieved. "Thank you so much Sophia." I shove him playfully. "No problem Lupin."

We didn't have to agree that I wouldn't tell anyone. He knew by my actions. And I knew I had made another friend.
