PhoebeKirsi and Davies' break up spread like wildfire in the Ravenclaw common room. It took nearly half an hour to get Kirsi out of bed and face the others. She couldn't deal with the humiliation. She was stalling in putting on her uniform and just dragging around the room. Lisa Turpin stayed with her whilst I headed for breakfast, but as I made way through the common room, the Ravenclaw Quidditch team huddled together on the couch then whispered something when they set eyes on me.
Davies was sitting on the far end looking quite deflated and frustrated. I supposed he didn't take the gossiping about his recent break-up too well. There was also the fact that the Quidditch team hadn't been able to practice, but the Slytherin team were flaunting their privileges to everybody. I walked right by them headed straight to the door when Davies blocked my way.
"Hey, do you have a moment?" Davies avoided eye contact.
"Not really." I tried to move past him. Truth be told, I really didn't have a moment. I couldn't wait to get to the Great Hall for breakfast. I hadn't been eating well these last couple of days.
"Look, I know you're upset about my break-up with your friend." He blocked my way again.
"I'm not the one who's upset." I bluntly said. "I didn't get broken-up with."
"Okay — whatever, I'm not here to talk about that." Davies shut down the topic. "But for another thing. The others and I have been discussing — do you want to join the team?"
THE — what now?
I emitted a dry, sarcastic chuckle. "I'm not exactly a team player."
"And you don't have to be. Look, the Slytherin team has special treatment. Umbridge favors them more because their families are posh and they're involved in the Ministry. Your father is Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, and a former Slytherin. Someone Umbridge highly respects—"
"You need me to get permission for our Quidditch team." I scoffed. "It's not going to work. I don't think she cares that Cygnus Ellory, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, is my father. So no. I will not join your team."
"But it's not my team—" Davies couldn't finish his sentence because I was already out the door.
The audacity! He had no shame. After what he did to Kirsi, he seriously expected me to do him the grand favor. I was in no mood to entertain the notion, nor to be used by anyone. During breakfast, the first thing order came flying over our heads. Owlette was the most delighted to be delivering me mail. I gave her a soft pat before she gracefully flew away with the other owls. I received a letter from my nana and another from the Prefect Council stating that the Halloween preparations were back on per Dumbledore's orders.
Umbridge 0 - Dumbledore and the rest of the student body 1.
I finished up breakfast then stood from the bench when I saw Hannah Abbott head in my direction. She was smiling, clearly excited about the news.
