The families sped up their plans quicker than anticipated. Just two days after the New Year's celebration at the Zabini's and the announcement that vexed Phoebe Ellory out of her mind, the families kept their promise about re-establishing a new Pure-Blood Directory and Cygnus Ellory was kind enough to share his manor for the occasion. Today was that day. It wasn't that long ago I visited Primrose Manor. However, being back here felt impermissible. I had to act like it was all new to me in front of my friends.

A few guests gathered around the foyer of the manor as we waited for the hosts to make an appearance. I imagined Phoebe getting ready in her bedroom slipping on a beautiful gown and adorning herself with shiny jewels. But if there was anything I definitely knew about her, she didn't go completely crazy about materialistic things like that. I hadn't been to her bedroom yet but it took some restraint from heading up there and finding out. Perhaps she needed help zipping up her dress. Oh, what a tempting thought. It would be rude of me to not be at her beck and call.

"Draco," Father cleared his throat, interrupting whatever illicit thoughts ran through my head, "I don't need to remind you to keep a close-eye on Ellory's kid, right?"

"No, Father." I cleared my throat awkwardly.

"Good." Lucius glanced around trying to keep up appearances.

"Why do you want me to spy on her?"

"That girl is just like her mother and that's not a good thing." Lucius curled his lip contemptuously.

Before he could elaborate, someone had called for his attention and he was off. I was left wondering how Phoebe being like her mother could be a bad thing. Phoebe's intelligent, brave, cunning, and takes justice into her own hands. She got all that from being her mother's daughter. The world needed more people like her. Fortunately, her mother's gift to the world was Phoebe.

Odette Ellory couldn't possibly be the cause of the Death Eaters' tribulations in the past, right? There was so much bad blood between the Ellory's and the pure-blood families present here, each whispering stories as to why. But they were just that. Fabricated stories. No one actually knew why except my father and the dark one himself. However, he wasn't around to tell the tale. And it wasn't like I could just get the truth out of my father. He was the master of lies and secrets.

I glanced around at the guests talking amongst themselves and mingling with their champagne in hand. None had anything interesting to say, much like the New Year's party at the Zabini manor, guests boasted about their riches and theories about how tonight will end. There was a time where I would've entertained their meaningless conversations on great wealth. But lately my mind had been somewhere else — with someone else.

"To think I have to spend the next few hours in Ravenbore's nest." Pansy Parkinson stood by me, curling her upper lip in disgust.

"I find it rather irie," Daphne Greengrass chimed in, cheekily.
