DracoA shrieking noise flared off into the open sky. It was usual to hear screams around this time especially in a maze where students were getting constantly scared, however, this didn't feel like one of those screams...it didn't sound like a lighthearted one. There was a wave of anguish that washed over the echo it left behind.
I turned my head in the direction Ellory had walked into. Wondering if she had made it through fine. I wasn't worried about her or anything, I just didn't want to deal with Pansy at the moment. I didn't get to take a step back because Pansy pulled me back by my arm. There was a demanding look in her eyes.
The screaming stopped. A flock of birds dispersed into the vast darkness as if something had scared them off. I shook my arm from her grip. The rest were looking back at me expectantly.
"What were you doing with her?" Parkinson crossed her arms.
"We got lost." My jaw tensed. "That's all."
"Are you sure, mate?" Goyle interrogated next, taking a step forward. Also with crossed arms, incredulous.
"Yeah, I'm sure. What's with the interrogation?" I directed at Goyle. I expected this behaviour from Pansy, but not Goyle.
Goyle didn't say anything else and instead lowered his gaze. He stepped back with the rest leaving Pansy to it.
"I don't believe you." She whispered harshly.
"Then don't. I don't really care what you believe." I moved, bumping my shoulder into hers on purpose.
Pansy turned around. "I know you have her journal."
I stopped in my tracks. "What?"
"That journal you've been carrying around for weeks. It belongs to Phoebe Ellory." There was silence as she said that. Then she let out a dry laugh. "Don't tell me you didn't know?"
No.
"It doesn't belong to anyone— much less her." I gritted out.
"You're really not that smart." Parkinson taunted.
"Whatever, Parkinson." I told her and headed towards a pensive Blaise.
I would continue the rest of the way with the guys and unfortunately with Theo Nott trailing behind us. As much as I disliked him, I was thankful he kept his mouth shut on the way out. There was no way that Parkinson could be telling the truth. I would've noticed if it belonged to Ellory. It didn't. It couldn't.
"So, do you have it?" Goyle hastily asked over my shoulder. I gave him a disapproving look. "That wretched Ravenbore's journal. I was thinking we could use it against her."
"She'll be at our feet begging us not to expose her secrets." Crabbe chimed in.
Their thirst for revenge showed, as well as my thirst to hex them.
