EPISODE SIX
the spy.

MAX and Nova were sat in Max's room a couple days later. Max was fixing her skateboard since Nova had broken it after attempting to have a go. Whilst Max was doing this, Nova was finishing a drawing in her journal.

Billy was working out somewhere in the house and her dad and Susan were out for the day. Nova was drawing a picture of Max fixing her skateboard. The two girls listened to music quietly through the radio, although it was drowned out by Billy's rock playlist.

After a few minutes of comfortable silence, the doorbell rang, causing Nova to look up, before returning back to her journal, assuming Billy would get it. But then it rang again. Nova huffed when she heard Billy yell at them, "hey! One of you getting that or what?" he exclaimed.

"You're closer to the door!" Nova yelled back in annoyance. "Back in a sec." she murmured to Max who nodded, concentrating on her board.

Nova moved past Billy and to the front door, her dark eyes widening when she saw who was on the other side. She glanced back at Billy nervously and quickly stepped outside, shutting the door.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she whisper yelled as he scratched his head nervously.

"I have proof." he told her, an awkward grin on his face.

She pulled a face. "What?" a confused scoff escaped her lips, her face scrunched up.

"Proof that what I told you was real. But we have to hurry. Get Max, I'll meet you by your window." he told her hurriedly.

"How do you know where my—" Nova began in confusion, but Lucas was already scurrying away.

As she turned around to go inside and shut the door, she bumped into Billy. She jumped, not expecting him to be there. She tried to get past him but he put his hand out. "Who the hell were you talking to?"

"An annoying neighbour. You know the Johnson's?" she lied, a straight face as he let out an amused chuckle, raising a brow.

She had missed that smile.

"An annoying neighbour?" he questioned. "I thought you liked the Johnson's, they always bring baked brownies or whatever it is you like."

"Okay, you should know I hate brownies. They bring cookies." she said. She moved past him to go back to her room. He looked down at her, before going to the front door to check and then went back to working out.

"Max we gotta go. Lucas has proof— c'mon." she jogged in, grabbing Max's hand, who was clearly confused, and yanked her towards the window where Lucas was waiting.

"C'mon hop on." Lucas whisper yelled.

Nova looked at Max, frowning. "It's okay— I'll skate." she nodded, and Nova nodded and jumped out, climbing down towards Lucas as Max followed.

She got on the back of his bike as Max got on her skateboard, Nova wrapping her arms around his waist so she didn't fall off. "This better be good, stalker." Max mumbled.
