As the child of Mother Gothel, you were nothing more than her servant. When you weren't doing the cleaning or the cooking or the washing, you were cramming schoolwork that your mother barely tolerated. The only reason she tolerated it in the first place was because you needed the basics so you'd be more useful around the house. Whatever kindness Mother Gothel had was fake, as proven by her involvement in the story with Rapunzel.

You met Evie when she, along with the other Core Four, were looking for trouble. You were running errands for your mother when you ran straight into Evie. You were gone by the time that Evie had been pulled up by Mal though.

"Who was that?" She asked, frowning as she watched you running like a bat out of hell.

"Y/n. Child of Mother Gothel... how that woman had a child is beyond me, but all I know is, you don't anger Mother Gothel, ever. Especially since she was revived to spend her time on the Isle." Mal explained, leaving Evie to just nod.

Evie didn't realise how bad your homelife was until she saw your face one morning. You tried to run past her but she grabbed your wrist, pulling you close as she spotted the bags under your eyes.

"When was the last time you got any sleep?" Evie asked, running her finger down your cheekbone as you tried to hold back tears.

"The water was cold, the clothes weren't dry. I have to go. Stay away Evie, I'm not allowed to interact with anyone today." You rambled, pulling your wrist from Evie's hand before you ran off.

"Y/n..." Evie whispered, realising how bad your life was.

"What are you doing here?" You asked when you found Evie lurking outside where you lived.

"I'm here to help you." Evie affirmed, leaving you to frown, wondering where the prank was.

"You're suppposed to be bad, remember? You're not supposed to help anyone."

"Parents are supposed to let their children sleep, Y/n. Just take the basket." Evie shoved the basket into your hands with a huff, trying to hide the desparation in her eyes. Desparation to see you not get hurt.

You let out a sigh as you took the basket, watching Evie smile before it fell as her fingers ran over the slowly healing bruise on your face.

You thought Evie was your friend. She was your friend. Until she disappeared to Auradon and left you in the clutches of Mother Gothel.

It wasn't until Evie returned that she realised what a mistake it was for you to be left alone.

"Y/n? Are you here?"

Evie's voice had you glaring into the bucket of water next to you as you scrubbed at the piece of clothing from the never-ending pile of clothing that needed washing.

"What are you doing here, Evie? You left, you left for perfect sunny Auradon, and you left me here to rot!" You growled, keeping your voice down in case Mother Gothel heard.

"I didn't have a choice, we were told we were going to Auradon then suddenly we were there and there was no discussion of bringing anyone else over until now-"

"Every day on the Isle is hell. Maybe the prissy rich royals of Auradon should consider that they are the villains. We were condemned to live somewhere that isn't liveable, then you pick and choose who gets to leave? It's not right and it's not fair. Everyone on the Isle is suffering, Evie!" You snapped, dropping the piece of clothing you'd been scrubbing at back in the water to finally meet her eyes.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I left you and I'm sorry that we left everyone behind. That needs to change when we get back to Auradon, I'll talk to Ben about expanding the program and bringing across as many as possible, but I need you to come with me, Y/n." Evie asserted, offering you her hand from where you were on the floor.

"Why do you need me? You didn't need me before when you left me here?" You asked, glancing between Evie's hand and her face as she stared at you with hopeful eyes.

"Because I didn't realise how much I cared about you until I was gone and had no idea when I would see you again." Evie admitted, leaving you to sigh before you took her hand.

"The thing with the Isle is, it's not liveable, but taking the barrier down would release every villain back. I know some like Hades have redeemed themselves, but my mother, she'll immediately go  after Rapunzel, Eugune and myself." You explained as Evie began to help you grab your things.

"Then we'll work together with Ben for a solution that will keep everyone safe." Evie replied, the two of you sneaking out of where you used to live with Mother Gothel.

"I cared about you too. That's why it hurt so much when I found out you were gone." You admitted as you and Evie walked over to where Mal was waiting.

Mal smirked as she watched Evie kiss your cheek, the two of you approaching her, hand in hand.

"You two took your time." She smirked further as you and Evie exchanged looks.

"Yeah... we better go before Gothel notices I'm gone."
