"Hey, (Y/N)?"
At the sound of her name being called, the girl stopped walking, looking around to see who wanted her attention at the moment. (Y/N) definitely didn't recognized the voice and having no one around her didn't help her situation at all.
"Over here." The voice called again. "Here, (Y/N)! No, look down!"
And so she did. Looking down at her feet, she frowned when she saw Dude, the school's mutt, standing there, looking up at her. Slightly confused, (Y/N) kneeled down beside the dog and scratched him lightly behind his ears, her eyes still looking around as she tried to find anyone standing there, nearby.
"Oh, hey, Dude. I didn't see you there." She said as the dog wriggled his tail happily. "I was just looking for someone. You didn't happen to see anyone looking for me, did you?"
"Apart from me, not really."
"Oh my..." (Y/N) gasped, her hand retracting from the dog's fur as she widened her eyes in surprise. "Did you... Did you just..."
"Why did you stop?" Dude whined, barely noticing how (Y/N) was still in shock. "Your cuddles are almost better than Carlos'."
"Dude!" (Y/N) whispered, finally finding her voice again. "You can talk."
"Yes. I thought we'd been through this already, (Y/N)."
"But... But how?"
By that point, (Y/N) was already sat on the grass, not really caring about the dress she was wearing or the place she was going to in the first place. She didn't even remember why she was going there, actually. She hoped it wasn't important. If it was, it would have to wait. Nothing or no one would be able to drag her away from Dude, the talking dog. To those passing by it would look as if (Y/N) was just chilling around with Dude, under the sun before classes. (Y/N) had done this countless times before so it wouldn't come off as odd, either. That is, unless they heard Dude talk. (Y/N) hoped they did. Otherwise, she was definitely going crazy.
"Oh, I ate something of Mal's earlier." He said, as if it was nothing. And it wasn't really. Dogs ate thing from humans all the time. But (Y/N) still wasn't over the fact that Dude could talk, so anything he told her at that point would sound surprising. "It was gross too."
"What did you eat?"
"A gummy." He said, as (Y/N) frowned. "How you humans enjoy your gummies so much is beyond me."
"You ate a gummy from Mal and started talking?" (Y/N) asked. When the dog said nothing, the girl ran a hand through her hair. "Remind me never to eat anything she offers me, then."
"Oh, no. You can definitely eat the things Mal gives you. Unless it's a cookie filled with love potions. Or a truth gummy."
"A truth gummy?" The girl repeated, Dude's story getting more and more confused every time he opened his mouth. "You ate a truth gummy from Mal and started talking? I assume you only tell the truth now, then?"
"I think so." The dog tilted his head to the said slightly. "That's what Mal told Carlos it would do to him. He would always tell the truth if he ate it."
"Wait... Carlos wanted to eat the gummy?"
At that, (Y/N)'s eyes widened in surprise again, not expecting the conversation she was having with a dog to take a turn like that. Carlos wanted a truth gummy? What for?
"Yeah. He had Mal do one for him."
"Why?"
"He wanted to be able to tell you the truth next time he saw you, instead of always avoiding the topic and end up asking you about your favorite type of desert of if you've done your chemistry homework already."
