''Forgiveness?''

''What? I guess I misheard, because why should I forgive her?'' the girl wondered, herself taken aback by the venom she put into the words, but she couldn't help herself. Her sister always saw things brighter than they really were. Which helped in times of exams, or breakups, but it didn't work for now. Especially when she didn't understand the importance of the situation.

''I don't know what you're arguing about, but it's killing you both. Forgiveness is hard, but you don't lose years of friendship over one argument,'' Adreanna smiled gently at her. As always, she was dealing with the high school drama of her sister and her friends. Not that it bothered her, she never had as interesting a life as the others, but most of the time they argued over complete nonsense.

''It's not just any argument.''

''It never is.''

The black-haired girl sighed. ''Fine, I'll think about it. I have somewhere to be, bye Adrea.''

''That's all I wanted, Bonnie,'' Adreanna said goodbye to her sister and watched her drive away in her car. She left her in front of the Gilbert's house. It was a beautiful family home with a wooden facade and a porch. The house used to be filled with the smell of cooking and the sound of laughing children, but after an accident a few months ago, the house had begun to lose its homey charm.

Still, the young girl didn't waste another second and made her way inside. ''Jenna! How are you? I heard about your accident.''

''Addy, I'm better now,'' Jenna smiled at Adreanna from where she was sitting. Jenna was a sweetheart and a fighter at the same time, she had suffered the loss of a part of her family and yet she didn't hesitate to accept the responsibility and take care of her nephew and niece. And despite the trouble those two were making she still dedicated herself to studying psychology at Whitmore College.

''I'm happy to hear that. Otherwise, I'm here to cook you something good,'' Andreanna said, pointing to the bag of food.

Jenna's face lit up. ''You're just amazing.''

''You're more than welcome,'' Adreanna smiled and made her way to the kitchen, where she took out the food on the counter and then started making simple fried noodles with vegetables and meat. ''The noodles are okay?

''You already know the answer, Addy,'' Jenna smiled at her.

Adreanna began to cook with a smile while they talked together. During the cooking, Alaric, the history teacher who was supposed to be supervising Jenna tonight, came in. Once the food was done, the young girl started to leave. ''Are you sure you don't want to eat with us? I'm sure there's enough,'' Jenna nodded towards an empty chair at the table.

''No, but thank you,'' she shook her head, ''I came to check on you and cook you a meal. I still want to make it to the masquerade, and I need to get ready for that.''

Jenna nodded. ''In that case, have a great time.''

Adreanna smiled at her. ''I'll try, Jenna,'' she waved them goodbye. ''Have a nice evening!''

Adreanna walked up the stairs into the building, she wore a knee-length beige dress with white patterns and flowers. A white masquerade mask adorned her face and her hair flowed in natural waves down her back.

As soon as she entered the building she was overwhelmed by the decorations and the music accompanying people's conversations. She saw many different colors and patterns of dresses and masks and as she walked around the estate, she caught a glimpse of the outdoor portion of the masquerade, which consisted of an outdoor dance floor, tables with refreshments and seating.
