Fire. An uncontrollable element that normally occurs in nature. It destroys anything in its path, burns anything it encounters, and very few people would look upon it with admiration and fascination while it burns everything to ash.

From ashes nothing is made or reborn, it is just ash.

Yet when Adreanna closed her eyes and reappeared in the car that had been consumed by fire, she felt strangely at peace, inhaling the smoke like oxygen and letting the flames crawl over her skin. It was only then that she began to hear screaming, wailing and pleading as she came back to reality. But she could never forget the feeling. The feeling of freedom.

"They're planning something," Rebekah announced to her friends as she watched Salvatore's brothers and the human doppelgänger stand in the parking lot, occasionally glancing in their direction.

"When are they not planning something? It's not like they know anything else," Caroline complained, rolling her eyes as she stretched.

"Maybe I can talk to them?" Adreanna offered with a smile, but the suggestion was immediately dismissed.

The blond Original shook his head. "They'd hurt you-"

"-but they're my friends."

"Ann," Caroline sighed to get her attention. "Yes, they're our friends, and they wouldn't want to hurt you, but that doesn't mean they'd protect you from themselves."

"Sometimes when people are angry they don't think and make decisions they later regret," Rebekah smiled sadly at her.

"I know."

"Do you have a dress for Homecoming?'' Caroline asked her red-haired friend as they prepared snacks together for the sleepover.

Adreanna shook her head. ''I don't have any, do you?''

''Neither, I was thinking we could go to the mall tomorrow, we can have lunch there too. If Rebekah wants, she can come with us.''

The redheaded friend turned to Caroline and took her gently by the hand and smiled at her, ''I'm glad you two are getting along.''

The blonde vampire shrugged, but a smile formed on her lips. ''She's not that bad,'' she said indifferently, despite enjoying her new friend's company. ''Where is she anyway? She's late.''

Adreanna frowned and looked at her phone, which had no new messages or missed calls. ''I hope she's okay. She was so excited about the girls' sleepover, you know she never had one?''

''Really?'' Caroline's eyes widened and ideas started forming in her head. ''Then we have to make this girls' sleepover unforgettable for her!''

''Just don't overdo it, Care,'' Adreanna warned her, but Caroline was already too busy thinking and planning when she started running around the house with the vampire's speed.

The red-haired girl shook her head as she laughed at her friend's antics. She ignored the loud bangs as she hoped Rebekah would show up soon. A moment later, Caroline approached her with a huge grin on her face.

''What?'' Caroline asked innocently, seeing the question in her friend's eyes.

''How much?''

The blonde vampire snorted with a smile. ''Maybe glowing lights and balloons...''

''What about the loud bangs?''

''It was all in the attic.''

''All of it?'' Adreanna chuckled lightly as she realized that tonight was going to be anything but ordinary.
