There was a quiet darkness in the bathroom, broken only by the soft hum of the light above the mirror. Adreanna leaned against the edge of the sink, her fingers clinging spasmodically to the cold ceramic. Her body heaved again in a painful spasm, and before she could stop herself, a choking sound came from her mouth and a stream of black, thick liquid mixed with blood hit the sink.
Panting and exhausted, she looked up to the mirror. Her once bright, golden eyes were now dulled and tired, with circles underneath that further emphasized the paleness of her skin. The red, slightly wavy hair that had once resembled flames now hung around her face as if it had lost its glow. A glance at her reflection in the mirror reminded her how much she had changed.
Adreanna took a deep breath, trying to keep the tears at bay. She must hide it. No one must know what was happening to her. Not yet. The look of pain slowly faded from her face as she closed her eyes and whispered a few quiet words. Her lips trembled, but the spell was strong. When she opened her eyes again, her skin seemed healthier, the circles under her eyes had disappeared, and her hair once again glowed like flames. In the mirror stood the girl the others knew, but inside her remained the truth that was slowly killing her.
With one last look at her fake reflection, she straightened up, wiped the remnants of blood from her lips, and squared her shoulders. She knew she wouldn't be able to fool others or herself for long. But for the moment, it was enough. Taking a deep breath, she returned her usual smile to her face and opened the bathroom door. When she got back to her room, which was a dark place in the early morning with no rays of sun or moon.

It was a morning like any other in Mystic Falls except for the invitations that had been sent out to the citizens of the town to join the newly moved Mikaelson family for the ball. All of the people invited began to prepare their best outfits that would represent them in public and especially in front of their new, wealthy family.
All of this was going on all over town, yet if we were to look inside the Mikaelson mansion, we would find that there was a disagreement among the family that night as the workers were repairing the walls and replacing the furniture. But that didn't stop any of the siblings from looking their best.
''Rebekah, tell me how handsome I am,'' the wildest Mikaelson grinned in the mirror when he asked his little sister.
''Oh, Kol, you know I can't be compelled,'' she replied, making their two oldest brothers smile at their harmless teasing.
The door opened and their half-brother walked into the room with a frown on his face. ''Just you Rebekah, you're capable of damaging almost every room in this mansion and hosting a ball the very next day. It will cost a lot.''
Rebekah rolled her eyes at her brother's drama. ''Like you're paying for it.''
''No, but I'm taking care of your mess, which needs to be gone by tonight so you don't act like a brat,'' Klaus told her, and watched as her annoyance showed.
''I'm not a brat.''
'''I have to admit Nik, I'm a little disappointed,'' Kol leaned back against the table and smirked at his brother, ''no more dagger threats?
Klaus looked at him and waved his hand. ''No, but I can make an exception for you, Kol, if you miss your coffin.''
''Niklaus,'' Elijah addressed him. ''It'll take a while for Kol to make up for lost time in manners lessons. We'll have to have some patience with him.''
''I don't think forever will be enough,'' Finn remarked, causing his siblings to chuckle, except for Kol, who shot them murderous glares.
''Haha, very funny,'' Mikaelson, the youngest male, frowned, ''it's not like we're all confused about our brother's change. I mean, decades and centuries of daggers and threats and suddenly he wants to play family?''
