The ginger girl slept through the night until late afternoon, when she was awakened by a loud bang. She sat up in a sitting position and looked around, only to have her memories slowly start to come back to her. From the decade dance to the deal and her mental meltdown over her sister's death.

The girl's mouth dropped open and tears welled up in her eyes as she gasped for breath. But by then the older vampire was already with her, hugging her from the side, she knew what it was like to lose a family member. That's why Katherine began to talk about anything that came to mind as the girl in her arms grieved.

After a while the sobs subsided and Adreanna listened fully to Katherine's voice as she recounted her experiences from her centuries of traveling. ''I met a boy once, he wasn't more than twenty years old,'' a smile appeared on her lips, ''I was in a cafe and he stood next to me as I looked out the window at the street, there was silence between us for a while. And then he pointed to an elderly lady sitting on a bench watching people pass by and began to tell her story, or rather guess. He told it like he was reading it from a book, it was so beautiful to listen to, we started talking and the hours passed and we both had to go in different directions. Before our paths diverged, he handed me a piece of paper saying that there between the words was my story...''

The ginger head turned to look at her friend and asked with undisguised curiosity. ''Did you read it? Have you guys ever seen each other again?''

The elder vampire patted the ginger head and smiled. ''He looked so eager, so I read it right on the spot. And if there's an adjective for something so tragic that was written in such beautiful and heartbreaking words, that's how I would describe the story. He was gifted and full of life with his dreams, if any of my enemies found out about him, he would end up dead. So I did what I had to do and made him forget. I only saw him once after that, years later, he was happy and I was glad he had found a place in the world.''

''That's nice,'' Adreanna smiled, though her eyes were still swollen.

A small smile also appeared on Katherine's lips as she played with her ginger hair. ''Do you know why I told you that, Sunshine?'' she shook her head. ''Because you reminded me of him when I first saw you. You see so much good in everything, and I know it can be hard sometimes, but I wanted you to know that there are people like you out there. People that this world needs so much, and that they too have found happiness, maybe you won't find it now or tomorrow, maybe the sunrise will just be a new day for you, but one day you will realize that you can start over with the memories of your loved ones in your heart. I don't want you to stop believing in happy endings.''

''I will never stop believing.''

''I've been waiting for you,'' the ginger witch who stood at the entrance to the apartment complex announced her presence cheerfully.

''Adreanna,'' the Original Vampire gasped in disbelief.

Her smile widened. ''Elijah,'' the next moment she couldn't help herself as she ran and wrapped her arms around his torso. ''I missed you,'' she whispered into his chest as he hugged her. He was glad to see her, he was a little worried when he found out about her involvement in the supernatural drama even though he hadn't seen her on Damon's side.

''I'm so glad you're okay,'' he sent her a small smile.

She shrugged, ''I'm hanging in there, it's a bit much, but the others need me,'' she said indifferently, not taking her fears and losses as valuable or something anyone should care about.

''Nonsense,'' Elijah disagreed with her as he unlocked the door to his apartment and urged her inside. ''My brother may be a threat right now, but that doesn't mean your comfort is any less valuable than anyone else's.''
