In an unknown field, somewhere....

A calm and cool breeze flowed in the air all throughout the vast rural landscape. In this peaceful locale we find our hero simply observing his surroundings with a calm and nostalgic smile. As he eyed the odd shaped mountain ranges, he felt a sense of ease and overall calmness in his soul as he readjusted himself on the warm headrest he laid upon.

"*Giggle* Enjoying yourself?"

Looking up he was met with a very familiar face, one he had not seen in quite a long time. Despite the centuries they'd been apart it wasn't hard to recognize her eternally youthful features. Her light orange hair flowed with the wind, nearly masking the smile that adorned her face.

Maverick let out an amused huff as he locked eyes with her grey orbs. With a mischievous look he sunk his head deeper into her thighs, eliciting a few more giggles from his companion.

"*Giggles* I'll take that as a yes." The ageless beauty said as her pointed ears twitched in delight. A small but heartfelt chuckle escaped his lips as he relaxed further in his companions robed figure.

"Well, every day's enjoyable with you." She stifled another giggle at his flattery while he immediately looked away and cringed at his own remark. "Gods, that was cheesy." As he said this a sudden and strong disturbing feeling entered his mind, before slowly fading away as he felt a warm sensation on his cheek.

"Yet your words are genuine, even if they're cheesy." Looking back he was met with the soft feeling of a hand caressing him, and once again he lost himself in the eyes of his companion.

No further words were spoken as the two continued to bask themselves in the calm atmosphere and in each other's company. For these small peaceful moments they enjoyed were few and far between, especially with tensions raging across the stars. In time however they knew it would come to an end, and they would have to move on.

"The sun will go down soon." She said as she eyed the blue and purplish hues slowly overtaking the red and orange colored sky. A sigh came from the man resting on her thighs as he turned to her, as a near pleading look formed on his face.

"Do we have to?" His voice held a resigned yet somber tone as he spoke, causing her to release a sigh of her own.

"As much as I do enjoy our time here, I sense we'll be needed elsewhere." She played with his hair in an effort to comfort him, which didn't seem to work as he felt the disturbing feeling return once more.

"Not even for a few more minutes?" He asked. To which the elven beauty slowly shook her head.

"I'm afraid not..." He turned his head back in an effort to regain some of the peace. Yet it wasn't meant to be as the disturbing sensation began to increase as the sky was soon engulfed in twilight. As he watched everything begin to unfold he felt the feeling of someone poking him at a rapid pace.

"It's time to get up, Mav."

"Eh?" In the years he had known her, she had never used a nickname for him. Always preferred using his full name, even after their union, so something was definitely up. Turning around confirmed it as the face of his once longtime companion began to shift and distort, just like the world around him.

"Mav...Mav....Maverick..." Her voice began to change in pitch, to match the voice of another certain individual he knew. Knowing what this meant he resigned himself as the world around him broke apart, releasing beams of light that soon engulfed his vision, turning everything white.
