Chapter Eighteen

The night came and went for me, I don't know if I feel asleep on the back porch or what.. but the next thing I knew the sun was rising, giving me the indication to go inside.

I stood up with a small groan, my neck and back ached.

I quietly walked into the house to see Ed sitting at the table, he glanced up at me and I sighed. "Look.. I didn't tell you guys–" "I don't need an explanation Valerie. It was your secret to tell, definitely not mine or Lorraines.. I apologize" Ed stated hastily.

"Thank you.." I muttered after a sigh of relief.

"Drew.. we didn't tell him anything. He's knocked out on the couch, Lorraine fell asleep on the love seat" Ed informed me as he motioned to the coffee pot on the counter.

I grabbed myself a cup before I sat down, obviously uncomfortable. "Your journal.. I changed a few things you got wrong in it.. this isn't a poltergeist situation, they move things around.. this is more of a.. possession as of now" Ed stated as he handed the book back to me.

I raised an eyebrow as I took it, "You looked through my things?" I asked sharply. "Had to make sure you had to underlining plan of scamming us" Ed Joked making me smile a little.

"Oh I'm much smarter than that. I could've had your wallet ages ago"

The male let out a chuckle before he wiped his eyes. "You should get some rest though.. David, John, and Elizabeth came back around.. five last night so they probably won't be up until late. We're staying for another day or two, then a priest will show up and exorcise this place and the woods" Ed explained making me nod.

And take another drink of my coffee, "You offered me coffee then told me to get some rest" I muttered making Ed look at me. "Shut up" He joked once again, "Okay Mr. Warren" I shrugged.

"Now I know you are physically capable of saying Ed. Just say my first name so I don't feel old.."

"I don't know.. your pretty old.. you were what.. eleven when I was born?"

"Shut up.. what about Lorraine?"

"Younger than you" I snapped back with a grin. "Ima tell her your bullying Me".

The last two days went by quietly and quickly.. Lorraine and I barley speaking a word, obviously worried though. Drew seemed to just go through the day sluggishly. And the Millers slept most of the two days.. David occasionally getting up and speaking with us.

Now I found myself in the woods watching Father Paul closely.. Ed and Lorraine didn't stand far from me.. but I know Lorraine felt it as well..

I don't believe it was Michael watching us. No it surely wasn't.. Michael didn't seem like an angry person but the spirit I heard scream, the one on the video tapes.. it had hid in the shadows, watching us.. just as it was now.

Maybe it didn't want to leave just yet, but I definitely glanced at the couple more than once to make sure I wasn't being paranoid..

And maybe the demon wanted to send me and Lorraine off with one good headache.. because that fucker screamed for what felt like forever.. it made me drop to the floor and cover my ears in pain, I didn't even look to the priest or the Warrens.. I knew Drew had me though, he tried it make me look at him but I just tried to cover my ears and pray the demon would go away.. pray the screaming wouldn't blast my eardrums.. which I knew it wouldn't.. if anything a demon was psychological, so maybe it would drive me mad.

The Millers case.

"Valerie"

I quickly closed my journal with the pencil inside the book. "You ready?" Drew asked me making me nod, my headache still not entirely gone.

"Remember to stop by when you guys are done unpacking!" Lorraine said making me and Drew nod. "And drink lots of water Valerie. And Tea!– what kind of tea do I use?" Lorraine asked Ed who smiled at her as he closed the trunk, "black tea, milk, sugar and honey" Ed informed.

"Got that Valerie?"

"Yes Ma'am! Have a safe trip you too!" I yelled as I got into Drew's van that was full of equipment, one last wave to the Millers.. I gave David the house number if need be..
