ocean dubois was...

To him, Ocean Dubois was nothing more than a subject of interest. She was a powerful young witch with  the vampiric ability to switch off her emotions, at least that's how she'd presented herself. Unfortunately, he liked this about her. He enjoyed her constant chaos simply because it amused him. Additionally he enjoyed eavesdropping, particularly on his sulky younger sister.

During the past few months he'd found himself faced with a tang of unfamiliar emotion. The emotion in question being a subtle, raging green jealousy. How could his siblings abandon him for witches? Why are they suddenly refusing to be at his beck and call? Klaus Mikaelson couldn't help but find interest in the Dubois', especially the youngest sister. Most would say that Klaus stole any chance of happiness Rebekah could even begin to taste. He would probably agree. However, he was wired to become a selfish, manipulating prat the moment his father stole his identity from him. Over the centuries he'd become accustomed to taking whoever and whatever he wanted. Most of the time it was a lover Rebekah had become attatched too. Whether it was a romantic steal, like Katherine or Stefan, or a platonic yet planned one like Marcel, Klaus enjoyed it. If Rebekah decided to fight back, it was always resolved with a silver dagger and twenty-seven years in an overpriced coffin.

Despite the torment Rebekah Mikaelson endured each day she wasted by Klaus' side, she always remained there. She existed for Klaus, as did all the Mikaelson's, because if they didn't they'd be forced back into the cold of the oak coffin. That was until she met Ocean Dubois. A girl so seemingly strong willed, resilient and powerful yet so delicately beautiful. Prior to their Halloween meet cute the Mikaelson's had heard whispers about her. The prophecies of a child born by the water, dripping with power beyond comparison. Many had feared it to be the return of The Hollow, the Elders quickly shut that down. They'd still had ancestrial magic. Of course the Mikaelson's didn't realise it was about Ocean, no one really did. She blended in with the mass of New Orleans witches, even if she'd always been more mouthy than others. This was purely because she had no right to her magic and the times she'd used it she was visited by a creeping fear of vampires. Ocean Dubois was not as brave as she'd seemed.

Growing up, the familiarity of Harry Potter books inspired her to be great. She'd spent hours practicing simple spells and occasionally hexes in the comfort of her then blue themed room. Some commented on how quickly Ocean had mastered the spells, others brushing it off as beginners luck. Her rolemodel at the time was Hermione Granger. Hermione was smart, strong, successful and despite her casting, Mrs. Dubois told Ocean that Hermione Granger was black. However, Ocean's prior Gryffindor tendencies of pride and bravery were quickly replaced with ambition and family loyalty. She was a true Slytherin. Klaus and Ocean harboured many similarities when it came to their proud personalities. It was somewhat of an infuriating realisation Rebekah had made, but even through all of it Ocean was always more loving and careful. Klaus Mikaelson was close-minded, self-centred and always striving for his perfect fate. Salazar Slytherin himself would be happy with a man such as Klaus, despite the technicality of him being a half-blood. He was a true Slytherin. 11 year old Ocean would claim that they must be soulmates due to this small factor, present Ocean would strongly diasagree. Nothing in this world could even begin to make her like the man that ruined her life. Every horrible occurence she was forced to live through was a direct result of him. Her parents, if he hadn't raised, turned and abandoned Marcel then he couldn't have "ruled" New Orleans and his vampire groupies wouldn't have hurt them. If Marcel wasn't so twisted by the ideals and morals Klaus raised him under then maybe they'd still be happy together. Rebekah, if he'd kept his mouth shut then they could still be together. The girl was well aware of her hypocricy however, by remaining by Rebekah's side it'd be like admitting to everyone who she really was. Ocean Dubois was not a Gryffindor.

Throughout the months she'd spent attatched to her now ex-girlfriend's hip, the spell to prevent Klaus's sireline from entering anywhere she'd casted had slipped her mind. She'd lazily dawdle to the Sunday witch markets claiming it was regarding her work however, her mind was overly preoccupied with that of Rebekah Salvatore. It was almost as if everytime Ocean mentioned tweaking it "to keep all vampires away", her girlfriend would unintentionally distract her. Sometimes even debate with her.

"But what about Elijah and Alisha"

"I'd rather him away from us"

Fortunately Rebekah had subtly purswayed Ocean into somewhat liking her sister's vampire boyfriend. It made Rebekah excited at the thought that maybe her girlfriend could learn to accept vampires that weren't power-hungry assholes. Eventually the "I hate all vampires" facade evolved into "maybe I should just keep it to Klaus' sireline". In all honesty, the blonde didn't care if Marcel, Klaus and their cronies were forever exiled from New Orleans because at least then she could enjoy peace and love. It may sound selfish but if she'd had one wish, besides the beauty of humanity, it'd be to rid herself of the Big Bad Hybrid. A phonecall or a letter every so often would be okay but beyond that she couldn't care for. Ocean was overjoyed at the thought of permanently exiling the Klaus Mikaelson, even if she'd die doing it.

The French Quarter vampires had made it clear that they'd only steered clear of the last remaining Elder because of direct threats made by "higher ups". They'd meant Marcel. Evangeline didn't take the extra protection for granted either. She'd mainly kept to her home and the cemetery. The older woman wasn't necessarily afraid, these were baby vampires daring to harm a powerful Elder, she could handle herself. It was more so how off the rails her youngest granddaughter would become if she'd found her grandmother in such a situation. She'd warned Ocean's parents about the power their daughter held, they thought she'd misplaced her meds that morning. Ms Evangeline Dubois was a seer. She'd heard these prophecies before. She'd seen her granddaughter before her own children were born. Even though she was recognised for her power, Ms Dubois was dually the Quarter's "crazy lady". She liked that though. Maybe she was crazy, maybe her visions were misinterpreted. The only thing she knew for sure was violent delights have violent ends. Ocean Dubois was caught in her own spin off Romeo & Juliet... Juliet & Juliet?
