warnings: sad asf???

Heartbroken was an understatement. During the week they hadn't spoken to eachother Rebekah had refused to feed in protest of their breakup. They'd both missed the grand Mikaelson Christmas, it was going to be the day Rebekah officially made Ocean her girlfriend. Now it's a day she was happy to miss. She'd sat depressingly in the comfort of her darkened room. Despite the comical efforts of Kol Mikaelson and the knowledgeable "through-the-door" advice from Elijah, she remained in almost the same spot she'd been in all week. She ignored the newest drama's presented by her family, including that of a suspected sister named Freya. Nearing dessication and insanity as she stared at the photo on her bedside table, the one of her and Ocean.

Ocean hadn't brushed her hair in a week, refusing basic hygiene due to her lack of motivation to do anything. She didn't recieve the luxury of wallowing. Alisha would force her sister into the sunroom where she'd set up paints and canvas'. Most days Ocean would just sit and watch Alisha paint. Other days she'd fight the basic urge to pick up a paintbrush. She really struggled on Christman morning when Alisha had dragged a beautiful piece of the river her parents lives revolved around. Suppressing her feelings felt safer. She wanted to be sad, to crawl up into a tight ball and die. Ocean foolishly believed that the quicker she were to reach rock bottom, the quicker she could recover and resume to her usual vampire hating life. She craved so dearly to hate Rebekah Mikaelson, despite the longing stares at their photo's on her wall, or the nights she'd lay with her finger placed over Rebekah's contact.

Having perhaps the two most stubborn beings to exist as younger siblings, led Elijah and Alisha to conspire lists of long-winded ideas to bring Rebekah and Ocean back together, rather than actually speaking to them of their idiotic ideals. The most acceptable idea, behind spelling them into a room together would be to do a "sibling swap". Elijah tasked the unpleasantly flirtatious Kol and as extra measure asked his sorta sister Freya, to ensure Alisha's safety at the Compund while he made the arguably more dangerous trip to the Dubois household. In the state of his and Ocean's friendship he would either make a breakthrough or end up temorarily dead. However, he'd stupidly do anything for Ocean, knowing the feeling of sibling-in-law love wasn't reciprocated.

A soft knock on the wooden door startled a semi-awake Ocean Dubois. This was followed by a quiet "May I come in?". She sat glancing between the pictures of her and Rebekah and the closed door. She mumbled a small yes. Despite knowing Elijah is too kind to bring Rebekah along with him, Ocean couldn't help but frown at her lack of presence. Besides it was nearing the New Year, maybe Rebekah could just find someone new.

"Is this some type of poor intervention?" Ocean spoke, venom dripping from her words.

"Not particurly. It's dependant on your mood" Elijah replied, a smile playing on his thin lips.

Ocean just nodded in response, not really knowing what to say. Honestly she didn't have the energy to continue her usual banter with Elijah.

"The other night, we heard you talking to your Dad. Alisha and I. I just want to say-" he was quickly cut off.

"Do you think I'm suicidal? Or I'm going to curse your family for the rest of your overly prolonged lives? Why are you even here Elijah?" Ocean spat, a mocking tone playing off her chapped lips.

"I'm gonna tell you about Alisha and I", with that Ocean dramtically fell face first into her pillow and groaned.

Some nights Elijah spent perched at the end of Alisha's bed, sitting in woefully deep thought. Altogehter protesting whether or not he should just tell the girl resting beside him who he really was. He didn't know how she'd react, and for the first time in a long time he'd been terrified. It was eating him alive having to hide such a major part of his identity from the girl he loved so dearly. It almost relieved him when Klaus had ripped off the bandaid for him.
