Cold air thick with tension filled the entirety of the French Quarter. Fingers adorned with crystal rings hovering over a blue flame. Incantations mumbled as the leftover coven surrounded the young witch. Black coils framed her soft features, doe eyes focused purely on her work. As the spell progressed so did the energy enveloping her. Her curls now lifting from her face as she slowly ascended. Although her feet were barely off the ground she felt as if she was miles above New Orlean's. The woman was a seer, some say the best in the Louisiana.
"anciens s'il vous plaît parlez-nous de vos prophéties" she spoke, a harsh gust of wind emitting from the fire in front of her. The witches watched in awe, continuing to chant behind the woman.
"montre nous l'enfant qui nous sauvera" she continued, raising her voice as the lights around her became blinding.
It all came to her in flashes. Waves. Glowing blue eyes. Klaus Mikaelson. A girl that looked oddly similar to herself. Confusion was an understatement. The witch was overwhelmed. She dropped like a rag doll onto the pavement, exhaustion seeping into her worn out body. Still the others continued their chanting until the lights died down and it was safe to break the circle. Elizabeth Summerlin, a mousy blonde woman, ran to the aid of the ither witch. She sat fretting at her friend's side, nearly missing the words that came out of her mouth. 'The prophecies of a child born by the water, dripping with power beyond comparison.' came out in a shallow whisper before Elizabeth's friend lost conscienceness.
"Evangeline you brilliant bitch" was all she'd managed to reply.

Klaus Mikaelson was a total slut for prophecies. Unfortunately this meant that whatever vision that could potentially "threaten his image" was immediately acted on. It'd been a routine for centuries and allowed him to have clever, well-planned head start on almost everything. He was well-aquainted with many powerful witches, whether their alliance was out of friendship or threat didn't matter.
This 'prophecy child' rumor arose in the late 60's. Luckily for Klaus, his younger brother had become very handy in the task of questioning the witches. Klaus had remained in the comfort of his New York residency, leaving his siblings to do his dirty work as per usual. Kol would've complained if he didn't enjoy the beautiful women of New Orlean's so much. He never got too far, most witches only heard the prophecy even himself heard. The witch who performed the spell refused to tell anyone it's finer details until she'd figured it out mentally. It had taken months. Kol Mikaelson had forgotten his morals during the weeks he'd spent pining for Evangeline. Well thought out plans to decipher her mind turned into way too much wine and the walk of shame each morning. They'd mutually enjoyed the partnership they'd created so much so that even Kol was visibly upset when he had to present Evangeline with the truth.
"I started talking to you for Klaus. He wants to know about the prophecy" he'd mumbled, quite ashamed he'd taken this so far.
She'd known this for a while. She was a seer.
"I want to tell him directly. I'm coming to New York" she replied softly. She felt sorry for Kol. He was an idiot, but he was also the most loving boy she'd ever met.
It'd taken less than a week for Evangeline to convince Kol to let her come. Honestly he was afraid how his temperamental brother would act. Deep down he knew he wasn't strong enough to fight him, if necessary, and Elijah had been in a coffin for 13 years. Despite this Kol decided to place his trust in the girl. What was the worst that could happen?
During the 4 days they'd been in New York Evangeline had met Rebekah, told Klaus about the vision, leaving out the part regarding the girl who looked like herself, had a girls night with Rebekah and gone on a particularly lousy date with Kol. They'd known all along their Summer Love was just that. It was nearly Autumn, their time was up. It was a bittersweet ending to a relationship built on lust however, Evangeline had learnt from this. She was still young, barely in her twenties.
Kol Mikaelson was her temporary escape from reality. Evangeline Dubois was getting married in October to a man she'd met once. His name was John, he was a family friend in need of a green card. He was nice, respectful, tall and he enjoyed working and cooking, which was everything she could ever want in a man. This didn't stop her from thinking about what could've been if she'd held onto Kol. The marriage was good, pretty, she'd felt nice but never full. That Spring she gave birth to twin boys. John and Cole Dubois. Two years later she had a beautiful little girl. Marie Angel Rebecca Dubois. All her children shared more similarities to John, however her daughter had her eyes, the eyes from her vision. She wondered if there was a mistake because Marie barely looked like her. However, 20 years later when her baby had a baby she'd realised the truth.
Ocean Dubios was the prophecy child.
