"We're glad that you decided to eat lunch with us Mitsuya-kun." Hina said smilingly at him before sipping her milkshake.
"Of course. It's nice to have a change of view during lunch break with you guys." Mitsuya chuckled lightly as he sliced the lamb steak and forked it into his mouth.
"Yeah. Mitsuya-kun. Have some break sometimes. You're just tied up from work too much!" Takemichi exclaimed happily as he started to eat his parfait.
"What do you mean by tied up partner? All I can say is he's been a bit of occupied with someone specifically during the wedding reception." Chifuyu grinned teasingly at him.
Mitsuya almost choked on his food. Almost. Good thing he had self-control.
"With that kind of expression alone, I can imagine on the kind nonsense that you would probably spit out right now." Mitsuya drawled out as he arched a brow at his expression alone.
"Now, don't be like that Mitsuya-kun. I remembered back then at the wedding reception on how Ran had asked for your hand during the dance." Takemichi piped up before he took a sip of his soda.
"Y'know how Ran is sometimes. Don't make a big deal out of it." Mitsuya grumbled as he focused his gaze on the meal that he was eating on the table. He tried to have a tight control over his reaction and prevented himself from blushing at that remark alone. Of all the days to remind him...
...why did it have to be right now?
A few days that had turned into a week with no Ran trying to reach out to him via call or messaging.
He didn't even drop by on his fashion house nor into his office the whole week.
It's like he disappeared from his life and into the face of the planet suddenly.
Mitsuya should be glad now, right? There would be no more pest and annoyance into his life anymore. But why did he feel empty instead? There was a hollow feeling crept up within him after that.
He wanted to punch himself and ripped his hair out. Why was he feeling this way? Wasn't he the one who drew line with Ran in the first place and bluntly told him of what their status was? He understood if Ran does not reach out to him and prioritize some important matters like his business and maybe along the way Ran realized that what he said to him was right and they needed to end this kind of foolishness.
But why the fuck Mitsuya's heart was rebelling and rioting with that idea alone?
His heart kept pestering him about Ran's absence and how it missed him like crazy.
Wait.
What. The. Fuck.
He missed Ran.
"...suya. Mitsuya-kun... Earth to Mitsuya? Hello?" Hina tried to snap her fingers in front of him and that brought him out of his stupor and racing thoughts and brought him back to the present.
"Oh sorry. I was focused on eating here. What're you saying?" Mitsuya gave her an apologetic smile which made Hina sighed woefully and shook her head in defeat.
"I was asking if you're free later this day after your work to hang out with us to relax. But I guess you have a lot of things in your mind right now that you need to sort out. That's the kind of face when a person is in love." Hina remarked.
Mitsuya sputtered, blinking owlishly at her. "Excuse me?!"
"Gotcha." Chifuyu smirked triumphantly at him. "This is like in my shoujo mangas that I've read where the main character has feelings for someone and they're either in denial or oblivious to it and it would reach to a point that some important background character needed to point it out to make the plot moving!" He added in enthusiastically.
