Oakley POV:

After District 6 girl goes, Hudson is next. I can tell he's nervous. His leg is bouncing up and down and he rubs his hands in his lap.

"Don't be nervous. You'll do fine." I nudge him with my shoulder.

"Easy for you to say. You have an actual useful talent." He sighs.

"True, I am much more talented than you are, but you can make a hella good snare combo." I smirk at him crossing my arms. He nods slightly and then looks up to the ceiling.

"Hudson Bass" The computer voice calls, Hudson carefully stands up and makes his way through the open doors into the arena.

"Good luck." I whisper, I know he'll need it. I wait the entire thirty minutes thinking of a plan. Enter the arena, flirt slightly with the gamemakers, then get down to business.

"Oakley Bass." my head shoots up as the voice calls, I stand up and make my way to the open doors. I take a quick look around and then walk over to the table in the centre. I pick up one of the axes then turn my attention to the Game Makers.

"Big crowd lucky me." I smile. "Enjoying that meal?" They nod in response. "Good, good." I nod. "We'll. Put in a good word for me! That way I can be with the careers."

"Please begin, Miss. Bass.'' Seneca Crane speaks up. I nod and walk over to the dummy filled area. I study them quickly. There's a bunch of dents in them. Probably from Athena I smile to myself. I walk over to the controls and place them on the modes I want. Axe, Hard, Fast. I tell myself. I see a shocked look on the gamemakers faces, they can see what I put in. I walk into the middle of the mat and listen to the automated voice count down once again.

The dummies shoot to life as the voice stops. The first one starts running towards me. I drop to the ground, roll then pop back up and shove my axe into its stomach. It falls to the ground and the next one is there. This one is coming at me low so I run towards it, jump, and swing my axe into its head. It crumples down and I hear footsteps coming from behind me. I whip around, swinging my axe and chop through the stomach of the next. The next one comes from the side, so I trip it and then shove my axe into its back. The next one appears and is jumping down towards me. I have no choice. I throw my axe and it hits it right in the forehead. I grab my axe and throw it at the next dummy as well. It hits it right in the leg. It crumples to the ground and I'm left on the floor. I take a deep shaky breath and wipe the sweat off my forehead with my shirt. I stand up and walk out of the area. I nod to the game makers and walk out, dropping my axe on the table.

I make my way into the elevators and head up to the seventh floor. Once I'm up there I see Johanna sitting on the couch.

"There she is!" Johanna grins.

"Hudson says you made a little friend." Pliny smirks. I'm not too sure who he's talking about so I ask,

"Who?"

"What is his name? Felix, your little boyfriend." Johanna chuckles.

"He is not my boyfriend." I answer, a blush stains my cheeks.

"Whatever you say." Pliny chuckles patting my back. I walk off to my room, the blush still stained on my cheeks. I undress and make my way into the shower. I turn it on and stand under it. I let the warm water wash over my body. The water trickles down the small of my back. The sound of the water soothes me and my sore muscles. I find myself looking at the dark bruises on my hip. It's getting better, just not great. After a while of just standing, I look around the shower for the soap and find it on the wall. I close my eyes and scrub the rose smelling soap into my hair, and as my eyes are closed I can't help but picture someone, something? No, I recognize those blue eyes. Felix. I open my eyes in shock.

"What the fuck?" I ask myself. I let the soap rinse out of my hair as I stand in shock. I then grab the conditioner and spread that into my hair. I keep my eyes open this time but I can't stop thinking about him. Maybe I really do like him, maybe he likes me? I don't know but I don't like not knowing. I sigh and turn off the water. I dry myself off then redress in baggy black pants and a hunter green shirt. I head out of my room to find everyone seated in the TV room with plates of food. I grab a plate, fill it with food, and sit down in between Alliby and Johanna. There's a look of pure concentration on her face. I should have that look on my face as well but I can't wrap my head around what happened. The Capitol ads slowly finish and Caesar Flickerman- the capitals news broadcaster and interviewer- comes on to the TV. His hair is always dyed a funky colour and this year it's a bright green. Caesars theme song plays and I find myself swaying slightly to the music. Caesar introduces what he's doing today and starts. I grow more concentrated. it's Felix who appears first, he scores a 10.

"So he is good with a machete." I say to no one in particular. Lillian's photo appears next. Her score appears, 8, pretty damn good. Then its two, wade scores a 10, also pretty damn good, then Athena appears, she gets a 10 as well. I smile. I pay less attention to the rest until Hudson's comes on.

"Hudson Bass, with a score of 5." Hudson lets out a disgruntled sigh. His face looks of disappointment and so does Pliny's. Johanna though keeps a straight face, no emotion from her. Then my face appears. I stare at the screen as Caesar's voice rings.

"Oakley Bass, with a score of 9." I look at the screen in shock.

"That's our girl!" Pliny cheers. Johanna gives me a firm pat on the back.

"Good job." She whispers.

"Congrats," Hudson gives me a grave look.

"Thank you!" I smile, too happy to care about his face.
