The events of the day all came crashing down onto Hunter at once as he sat with his back to a tree, deep in the thick, darkening, forest.
"He wasn't a human. He wasn't alive. None of his actions mattered- Nothing he ever did would matter!!", and Hunter's thought process continued, much like this.
He didn't remember how he had gotten there or where he was, his thoughts were so loud. They blocked out everything else.
All he could remember doing at this point was repeatedly banging his head against the tree bark, attempting to ground himself or make himself feel anything at this point.
He didn't know if it had been minutes or hours, but it certainly had been some time since he had left the Owl House behind. Where was he going to go now? What was he going to do?
All of these thoughts swirling in his head caused him to not be aware of someone approaching him from nearby. It was Darius.
After witnessing Hunter get taken by the spell, Darius saw him once again running by, he was- to say the least -worried. He left Eberwolf and Raine behind to follow the blonde-haired boy because of the immense protectiveness he felt for the young boy, he cared for Hunter almost as if he was Darius's own child.
Darius spotted Hunter in his state almost immediately and ran over to him.
"Little Prince...? Breathe... It's okay, it's me, Darius." Darius spoke softly with a firm hand preventing Hunter from injuring himself any further.
"D-Dad-rius...?" Hunter mumbled, half-conscious.
Despite the situation the accidental nickname Hunter had appointed Darius still made him smile a bit, before brushing it off and beginning to bandage Hunter's leg and head.
He carefully bandaged Hunter with the spare emergency-bandages he kept with him at all times.
Then Darius gently picked up the mumbling boy and carried him into the shadowy forest.
Darius was going to keep Hunter safe from now on. No matter what.
