(Pic is what the library is supposed to be like)
I was mentally playing a game of snog marry avoid whilst Bloom berated Jenny in the classroom. Channing Tatum. Hmmm...snog. Henry Cavill...marry. Rége-Jean Page...marry. Oh, damn it. My face was morphed into what I think of as my stressed expression. My lips were thinned and I was tensed up.
Poor Jenny was sitting with her head cowed as Bloom and her friends surrounded her desk.
"You don't belong here," Bloom sneered, her face resembling a scary monster. "You're an embarrassment."
Her friends hummed their approval.
"This is because Lucas dumped Bloom," Iris whispered to me. How shocking. Who could've predicted that?
I tried to get back into my game, but the contents of Jenny's bag were dumped on the floor. School books and pens hit the floor with a clatter. What did a girl have to do for some peace around here? I hadn't even had a chance to go and look for the book again.
I'd managed to sleep in my own room for the first time since this all began. It had been heaven and I hadn't been plagued by the high and lows of Lucas and Jenny's relationship. But then...I'd been dragged here.
"Look at the state of her things," One of Bloom's friends said, laughing. Jenny's face was streaked with tears and I pushed against whatever was controlling me. What sort of friend was I? I should be all up in Bloom's face right now. Even if Jenny was a bit of a pain.
Without a word, Jenny ran out of the classroom.
I could move again and I shot up out of my chair.
"Where are you going?" Iris asked. Grace repeated the question, her face dull. She was in this class as well.
"To get Bloom," I said angrily.
"What?"
Truthfully, it was my dislike of Bloom which had started this whole fiasco. Her face was just so punchable and her lines were so mean girl on steroids. Her auburn hair and disgusted expression actually reminded me of someone...I couldn't remember who.
I stormed up to her and she turned, confusion written across her face.
"You really need to get a grip," I said, glaring at her. She stared at me.
"What?"
Her stupid friends circled me like vultures.
"Stop bullying Jenny."
Her face scrunched up and red spots appeared on her cheeks.
"She's acting all innocent and Lucas is falling for it!"
Angry tears leaked down her face and for a moment I did feel oddly sorry for her.
"You're in the wrong," I said sternly.
"I know, but-but...Lucas is falling for her act!"
She mouthed the words once and then twice and stomped away. I watched her leave, wondering how much she wanted to be this way.
The library was still empty and the warm musky smell of it had to be manufactured. I'd spent a good ten minutes trying to find it again.
"Where are you, oh horrifying story?" I asked the shelves and, of course, a glowing golden paperback was sitting snug between two books.
I snatched it out of the shelf and quickly skipped the title page and the one where we were described. I didn't fancy seeing myself as Extra: Beatrice Cole again...the scene with Bloom was clearly drawn on the previously blank page. As was the one where Lucas dumped her. I don't want to be with you anymore. I like someone else. Ouch. A bit harsh, Lucas.
