I stirred in my sleep as my mind fought with itself once again. I rolled over as I thought about the coming week. Am I the stupid one? I asked myself. Then it hit me like a bullet train going full speed: Friday was Kirstin's birthday! I jolted awake and quickly got out of bed and practically ran to my closet. Without giving it much thought, I grabbed my "Hakuna Matata '' shirt off the hanger and slipped it on after taking my pajama shirt off. I ran to my dresser, grabbed my light gray capris, and put them on quickly. Time was of the essence as I braided my hair as quickly as possible. After getting dressed, I walked quickly to Malone's room and opened the door. Slowing my pace down inside the room, I walked to her bed. I sat down softly and gently shook Malone, who jumped awake. Her eyes were filled with concern.

Malone: Kailyn! Why are you up? Are you okay?

Me: Shhhh. Don't wake them.

Malone: Sorry. But still. What are you doing up in the middle of the night?

I had to get right to the point and not delay a single thing. Time was still of the essence to get something special planned and ready for Friday.

Me: What is Friday?

Malone gave me a puzzled look and then thought about it for several heartbeats before looking back at me.

Malone: May 16.

Me: Yes, and guess what is happening that day?

Malone: How should I know?

I looked away, knowing that Malone wouldn't know that May 16 was Kirstin's birthday. Malone placed her hand on my shoulder and then moved it to my knee when I stiffened in pain.

Malone: I'm so sorry, Kailyn. I didn't mean to do that; it was just out of instinct. But tell me what is happening on Friday.

I relaxed as the pain slowly went away. Taking a deep breath to remind myself that I needed to stay focused and forget that I was having slight pain. Finally, after several moments I looked up.

Me: It's Kirstin's birthday, and I want to do something special for her.

Malone was quiet for a few moments, and I knew that she was thinking of what we could do. Then she smiled and looked up at me.

Malone: What if we had a surprise birthday party?

Me: That's a great idea! And she probably wouldn't suspect anything.

Malone: Okay, so what park should we do it in?

Me: It should probably be in a park that is accessible by monorail. So that would mean either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.

Malone: Which park do you think she enjoys best?

Me: I believe that EPCOT is her favorite park. So that would mean that that would be the best park to do it in. The only question would be, where could we set everything up and her not see it from the monorail?

Malone: I have an idea. So what if we put the main area like where all the tables, chairs, and everything along those lines by the Character Spot. It isn't that visible from the monorail or the station, so she would be surprised when you lead her there.

Me: That could work. Great idea, Malone. You know that this is precisely why I ask you to help plan this. You are the all-star when it comes to planning parties.

We laughed quietly; then we jumped when we heard a gentle knock on her door.

Mitch: Malone and Kailyn, are you up?

He sounded like he was worried. But I told myself that I would tell him and Scott that way, we would be able to be on the same terms when it came to keeping Kirstin away from EPCOT.
